Windscreen Scuttle Drain Hole
Very often an overlooked piece of equipment. "Windscreen Scuttle Drain Hole" Takes the excess rain water from the windscreen and vents it out in the engine bay.
If it becomes blocked, as it will from time to time. The excess water will find its way into the cabin footwell, via the electrics under the dashboard and footwell. Not
to mention soggy carpets and sound proofing that will have to be taken out. Look for a rubber flap attached to the engine bay bulkhead. W208 on the passenger
side RHD. Pour water over the windscreen, and wait for it to come out of the flap.If nothing pours out or just dribbles. It will require cleaning out. Baby bottle type
brush will do the trick. Do not poke it with wire, as you are liable to make a hole in the rubber tube, and major problem.

I can confirm: a few years into owning my '99 CLK320 (purchased used in 2008) I learned of this issue after the cabin blower motor regulator fried due to water leaking into the footwell.
