First post - she’s completely dead
On the/ a more fun note, we’ll be working our way on this thing firstly fixing the top which doesn’t work - and a cool but conservative theme adding some discreet body mods - wheels - lower suspension a wee bit - reseal motor - chip- lights - then auction it off for a local charity of choice of our staff. Any ideas would be appreciated and we’ll be asking a lot of questions. I’ve had 20 911s, a couple Audis and just restored a 73 BMW 2002 which was a blast. This is my first Mercedes other than a 2000 ML 55 I bought new in the day and getting excited about the project and learn more about the marque.
I hope to contribute to the forum but admittedly, I will be asking for more information than offering.
Thanks for reading.
The electrical issue is likely related to the SOS system and can be alleviated by pulling one of COMMAND fuse under the hood.
The convertible top is likely from low oil and to leaky cylinders. Pull the back cover out from the trunk and the metal pan covering the back of the seats. Fill tank with appropriate oil. I had to replace seals on the lock and now cyclinders to alleviate the leak and allow the system to pressurize appropriately. You can buy the seals and oil for less than $100 https://www.ebay.com/itm/28179131096...mis&media=COPY.
Remember to activate the trunk roller micro switch on the right side during debug, otherwise you’ll only be able to raise and not lower the top.
These are both VERY common issues, so you should have little issue resolving them.
