Crank Pulley Replacement

I was wondering if any of you have had your "crank pulley" replaced and how much it cost you. I just brought my car into an independent service shop and they said I needed this replaced. My car has 75K miles on it so I don't know if this is typical.

Also, can any of you in the Southern California (LA or Orange County) recommend reputable and good-priced independent service shops?? Or where do you guys take your cars besides the dealership. TIA

haters crazy
My front crank pulley had to be replaced because the rubber insert in the pulley was coming out. I did it myself and the pulley was less than a hundred dollars.

crank pulley replacment (Better do it now!)

Mercedes was stupid for designing a crank pulley with shotty rubber in the middle. But none the less every car has them. So yea crank pulleys are not hard to do. 430's and 500's are little harder to do because of the space but
not a whole lot harder. You just need the tool to hold the crank pulley in place a 27mm socket a breaker bar and two cheater bars. You can do it yourself. Its easier with a friend though. Just keep an eye on the crank pulley. YOU DO NOT want the failing on you. If your lucky it'll move forward and fall off and you'll be stuck with a $100 tow bill. If your unlucky it'll move backward into your timing cover and chew it to pieces. Then your stuck with a 15 hour repair bill. (ML owners get screwed even more 21 hour repair time)
So please do inspect your crank pulley.
