One Xenon light is dim?
Hello,
I have some problems with one of the xenons on my CLK 430 1999. It shines much less bright than the other one, and has a color that leans towards blue/purple. Anyone know what might be the problem? Is it the Xenon lights themselves or any igniter/ballast/whatevah problem?
Took a (crappy) pic of it:
Cheers,
Martin

looks like u have a somewhat of a dud of a bulb... when the bulb starts going out, it will get dim... looks like the problem you are facing here.

if you are opting for "bluer" light, then, keep it at max 6000k... the ones I would recommend would be the Philips bulbs

i believe the stock bulbs are rated at 4300K, which, in theory is the brightest xenon bulb available...
moving to 5000 to 6000K bulbs will give you a bluer light, without sacrificing much luminance, and not creating too much glare....

Which bulbs would you recommend? I saw that standard is 35W D2R 4300K, I guess the D2S type won't work with the reflector?

D2S is meant for projector housings... D2S in our CLKs might create a poor cutoff point in the beam pattern....
Xenon bulbs are quite expensive... i think dealers charge about $100-150 EACH

Xenon problem
I just swapped by 97 E320 halogen lights for a set of OE Xenon I bought on
Ebay. They installed fine but when I turned them on they both started to flicker then went out. Each time I switched them on both would flicker for a few seconds then die. Once one did stay lite, but only for a few seconds. Any idea what is wrong here. Is it the bulbs, ignitors or do I need to get the dealer to set the computer ? HELP!!!

It may be the ballast is going out, but, for both to be going out at the same time is a little odd. Unless, if the car was involved in some kind of frontal accident that may have damaged both...
word of advice, always check to ensure it works before installing, especially if the item is used...

I would suggest the Philips Ultinon 6000K bulbs... prices will range depending on where you shop, but, here is a shop that sells lighting accessories...
