Question Final check after rust issue on trunk. Query about the rear lights?

Hi

If someone could help me.

1. Could anyone tell me if the rear outer lights have a rubber edging surrounding it or nothing (thus you can see through to the body of the car) I have enclosed a picture hoping you can see what I mean.

2. Also could you tell we where your latch is positioned as you have slam mine shut (again see picture)

3. My rear bumper seems to be on at an angle (see picture) it has had someone just scuff it but nothing else, does anyone else have this.

Would appreciate any comments or any pictures if possible

Nick

As of the second picture, my latch is positioned the same as yours.

Dude...it looks like you have some factory defects.

How long have you had the vehicle?

It looks like someone did more than scuff the back of your car. I was rear ended by a tahoe that was hit by a workvan. The third picture with the trunk up where you can see the bottom trunk surrond, it is wavy where it appears to have had the frame pulled. I was only hit at about 10 miles an hour and am up to over $3000. The inital Allstate estimate (the other dirver) was 900 and 2 days. They had my car for 17 days but did an excellent job lining eyerything up but when I picked it up that area was the easiest for me to look at and tell the car had been hit. I had them work on it some more and they straightened it out pretty well. Did you buy the car new?

Why I am asking.

I previously reported having rust growing under the trunk handle (manufacturing defect), so they had completely repainted the trunk lid, but when I picked up my car I noticed the above.

Do all CLK have no rubber or plastic surround around the rear lights as in first picture? I am suprised as I can now see through to the body of the car.

In answer to quaz, I had my car since Feb 2000.

In answer to bmac002, yeah I have had my car since new, I had all my problems sorted out but just this. Do you reckon I should have it re-adjusted. you can only see this when the trunk is open otherwise the car is perfect. The bumper is not mis-aligned on the sides to the rear wheel arches, except what you saw at the back.

Regards

Nick

Barflux- NO, there is no rubber coating or anything around the taillights. The gap you have is normal.
