Need Help, Warranty Expiring Soon

My warranty will expire in a few weeks and I plan to have an independent shop do a comprehensive inspection prior to the warranty expiration.

My plan is to have someone "shake-out" anything that is wrong, then I will have the dealer fix under warranty.

I have had a few major issues; the latest was a complete replacement of the exhaust system at over $4K covered under warranty.

Can anyone recommend an independent shop in the San Francisco Bay Area, preferably in the East Bay?

Many thanks,

PS - is there anything that I should look out for in terms of potential failures? The car has only 28K on the clock.

The original factory warranty is 4 years or 50,000 miles, whichever comes first.

my car is starmarked till 2006 or 100,000 miles... it's currently at 82k. i went to the dealership to change my cat converter cause i heard it was a problem and wanted to replace it before my warranty expired. everything was fine until the last minute where they said that the warranty does not cover exhaust system. WTFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF..... and i was under the impression from another mbworld member that i could replace it under starmarked warranty... i totally got jewed that day. (which was tuesday)

My understanding is that the emission system has a 10 year warranty. I just had my muffler, cats (2), and tailpipe replaced under warranty. It would have been over $4K, if it wasn't covered. Take a read of your warranty.

I would try calling another dealer. If that doesn't work, I would contact MBUSA.

Federal Emission Coverage:

Components under the federal emission defect warranty are covered for 8 years/80,000 miles.
