lunching an automatic
ok... so how do u launch an automatic car? do u just floor it? rev it in N and pull it to D? also... if u floor it? do u floor it to the point that it "clicks" the thing under the acc padel? thanks! cause i know how maunal car launches.... but i just wanna know to launch an automatic... thank!

With your car in drive ( 1st or just Drive), hold down the brake and begin to press the accelerator.Gradually press the accelerator harder and you will hear your tires squeal. Be sure to have skid control pinning. Then release the brake and you're off.

notice how my question is on automatic cars and not just specifically "our" cars... this is just one of the many things i have woundered b4.... and still woundering...

The main determining factor would be whether or not the car has some form of traction control. If it does, it usually works to your advantage to leave it on and floor it. If you don't have it, then it's best to launch not by mashing down the pedal, but by quickly and smoothly pushing it all the way down.

Most of the modern cars with automatic transmission now a days has protection against netual drop.
If you rev it and drop it in to D.. the computer will cut off the gas until the engine goes back down to 1 to 2k rpm before letting it back on.
Same concepts apply when you rev your car in N.. the engine will never rev up to red line...

hummm trick eh.... i no u can trick the ESP to not kick in... when i drifted on ice... onviously the ESP will kick in and not let u rev and skid... i found that if u gas let go gas let go u can do the same thing as having it off...

Most all cars I’ve driven I have the best luck launching from an idle. Some cars like to be given a little (or a lot) of gas, but held in place by the brake until launch ("power braking" is what I hear it called). Most all cars with efi I've driven have problems at launch since the computer can't think fast enough to handle things correctly. My car has to “think” sometimes when I floor it, as if it were asleep and I yelled Fire!
And yes, floor it so the thingie under the pedal clicks. That switch tells the tranny we are racing!
Flooring it and dropping into gear from neutral is fun, but like drugs, not a good idea. Also, others will view you as a fool. Cars can be very different as to how they handle the dreaded drop. Some like my clk have zero tolerance for tranny shenanigans, but my ML is very tolerant of higher rpm N to D or D while still rolling in reverse etc. I wouldn’t rev it high or floor it, but 2krpm to D is no problem.
I have a truck with an older Chevy trans and loose converter, that one I can easily drop in gear at 4k, or shift into R while going 20mph and use the tranny as a brake.
Keep in mind that a tranny case is made of thin cast aluminum and loosely holding 100lbs or so of steel inside. If it feels harsh, it is harsh, that's a lot of weight and stress for such a brittle case.
