i like the bottom one better. Looks a lot more aggressive. BTW, where do you get that smoked taillights thing? I like it, is it expensive to get? I want an aggressive look to the back of my car.

Here's a link of how you can do it yourself... http://forums.mbnz.org/publications/pub.asp?id=164

Mtechnik:

How do you plan on smoking out your tails? Also, I think you should smoke your tails like fr34k has.

I ended up doing it the same way fr34k did. At first i was having doubts but after seeing fr34k's pic I decided to go on with it since I already sprayed one side. Results were ok i guess. White with smoked tail lights look so much better.

thanks!
i got a shop do it professionally for me...
very good quality....
i think it's better for a professional shop to do it rather than doing it yourself unless you're skilled at it... its not gonna look nice on merc if it's not perfect
good luck!

I'm sorry. I wasn't too clear on what I was asking. I meant to ask, How did you go about smoking them? Did you do them yourself? If so, what did you use to do it? If you got them done, how much did you pay? Thanks!

I've always like playing with cars and working on it myself so yea i did this one myself. I used tint spray for this set but if i had tint film i rather use that instead. Took each tail lights off and the 3rd break light, masked it then spray. Going to my bodyshop today to have them buff it for the extra glossy look. Hope this helps.

Cool, post pix of them once you're done if you don't mind. I'd like to see how they turn out.

Vinyl tint

I just got my windows retinted, this time in 15% tint at Sunshield in Sherman Oaks, CA. When I went to pick up my car across the street, it was sitting in a place that does vinyl stickers for those ricer cars, and they showed me some options for smoking my tail lights! I'm going to get this dark vinyl sticker over both lights, with cutouts for the clear portions. They're charging 160 for it, and it's completely reversable and warrantied. I'll post pics when theyre done next weekend!

Jello:

Did you get a chance to put on the Vinyl Stickers? If so, can you please post pix? I'm thinking to tint mine really soon and this would help me decide how to go about doing it... Spray or Sticker. Thanks!

2004 CLK500, 78 6.9,
Hey Rafi.. wow, I forgot all about this post. I was talked out of getting the tint done by the girlfriend... I looked at some BMWs that had the tint done, and I decided I just didn't like the blacked out look for my car. The tint does look really good though. I wish I remembered what the place was called that did that sort of work, but they're on Van Nuys Blvd., just south of the 101 in Van Nuys.
