2006 CLK350
2006 CLK & Options

I finally ordered my CLK.

It is a 2006 350CLK with Diamond Silver Exterior, Blue Top & Stone Interior, and the following options

DVD Command Navigation System
Keyless Go
Wood/Leather Steering Wheel - (It’s required that either this be
ordered or the Steering Wheel with Gear Shift Buttons)
Comfort Package (317)
-Active Ventilated Seats with Heating Feature (401)
-Driver Multi-contour Seat (404)
Lightening Package (319)
-Bi-Xenon Headlamps with Active Curve Illumination (615)
-Headlamp washers (600)
Premium Package (326)– the car cannot be ordered at this time
without this package
-6 Disc CD Changer (819)
-Harmon/Kardon Logic7 Surround Sound (810)
-Auto-dimming Mirrors (249)
-Garage Door Opener (232)
-Heated Windshield Washer System (875)
Run-flat Tire Package (328)
-Mercedes Extended Run-flat Tire (R66?)
-Tire Pressure Loss Warning System (477)

The only thing that I didn’t order was the Multiplex Super Ultra Ashtray
System.

It will be arriving approx. the last week in Sept or the first week in Oct. - Is this typical with most cars?

It has been real helpful joining this forum & getting advice and/or reading postings. I’d like to thank the following who have replied to my postings or have communicated thru the private message system.

Congratulations on your order. Can you confirm that Parktronic is not an option on the CLK 350/500?

Wood Steering Wheel or Steering Wheel Gearshift Buttons

When you say gear shift buttons, do you mean the paddle type gear shift buttons? If your answer is yes then you are probably right. I say that because as I said in my initial posting, at the present time it is required that the car be ordered with - the Wooden Steering Wheel or the Steering Wheel Gearshift Buttons(428).

I tried to go back to Mercedes site & my downloads and could not find where it talks about the Steering Wheel Gearshift Buttons or see what they look like. If you know where I can see a picture of it, please tell me.

The buttons on the steering wheel for shifting gears are exactly that. They are simple switches just behind the steering wheel, not paddles or anything else as fancy. They are plain grey. I'll take a picture of mine to show you, at some point today/tomorrow. I've not really used them either in all honesty.... working my car in before kicking it's **** down the autobahn at MAX!!!

Thanks for the explanation and yes I would like to see a picture of them.

By the way there is a small white triangle with a red edge on the bottom of the left pane [long explanation huh] of each posting that say's "Report Bad Post" and I was going to click that on your posting re: "down the autobahn at MAX!!!"
that's mean to say! (only kidding I'm just very jealous). That must be great to be able to really test your car. Let us know when you do.

I don't know?

The optional Premium Package is required on the 350 & 500 2006CLK -that doesn't seem very optional. Is it required in Europe?

To be more correct I should have said that I was told that the 2006 CLK's 350 & 500's that are being ordered at this point, are only allowed to be ordered with the Premium Package.

Maybe there are others on this forum who have ordered the CLK and know why? Also I am not sure if it only applies to the Cabriolet but I would think not.

No, it's not really required, but depends where you live or work. In Amsterdam (The Netherlands) for example where parking is at a premium and the parking spaces are like matchboxes, then I'd recommend you get it, unless you like adding different shapes into the car, such as those of traffic cones.

Steering Wheel Gear Changer

As promised, here is the picture Steering Wheel Gear Changer. There is one on the other side of the steering wheel, exactly the same. You push towards the dash to go down a gear and towards yourself to change upwards, obviously.

Were you talking about Parktronic or the Premium Package. It looks like I goofed the Title box I should have typed in Premium instead of Parktronic IE I have been told that parktonic is not available with the 06' CLK Cabriolet. Sorry

I'm talking about Parktronic as you said you wanted Parktronic and wasn't able to get it.

What exactly is the premium package all about? Command, H/K Speakers?

The only packages available to me were:

Sports package (which I have) or the AMG Package. However the AMG package is 3.5 times more expensive than the Sports package. I didn't see the point.

I can explain what you get for each if you want.

The above statement is incorrect. I would think though that both can not be ordered but I am not sure.

Thanks, you made it very clear. I looked at your other pictures especially Gibraltar, my mother & 3 grandparents were born there and of Portugal, my other grandparent was born there.

Yes you were helpful thank you.

Consumer Reports had Keyless Go as a recommended item, which surprised me. Does anyone know what the rational is behind why they recommended it? Another consumer site called it a very expensive gadget.

I'd love to either move to Gibraltar or to the USA. However the latter is bloody hard to get into. Anyway, lets not digress - unless you can give me a job & green card legally.
