dealer got in a CLK 500 to look at today, said it was nice inside and out although it reminded him somewhat of the acura coupe...he said the car had keyless go, but from now on you dont get the credit card type gizmo with it, you have to carry the key....which seems rather pointless to me, as if you have the key you may as well use it

Description of keyless go :
Integrated into the car "key", not the "card" as before.
You have the key, but keep it in your suitcase or somewhere
in your pocket. (especially your hands are busy, you must put stuffs aside, and find the key, think about women shopping back)
(1) Go close to your car, pull the door and open
(2) Hold the brake & push "start" on the knob,it starts
(3) W209, seat belt will auto move forward to easy your catch.
The 2nd part to stop your car
(4) Put the shift in "Park",hold the brake, press "stop"
on the knob, engine stop.
(5) Get out of the car, push a little button on the door handler
it locks & triggers the car alarm system.
See, you never touch the "key" somewhere in your pocket.

Hmmm... I still say the card was easy to carry in a wallet. I guess it's all good...
If you have to hit the button, why not just hit the button on the smart key..
Ya ! a card can put in wallet,it's true. But once if you want remote control something
(1) lock/unlock door or luggage, you need the "key"
that's ok, do not use remote.
(2) Searching your car in a large log, need remote "key" , right ?
that's ok, never park there or in the dark.
So,no need to bring the key, just a card in the wallet.
Great !
BTW, most of the porters do not know this function,
I left the car to a porter, step aside and watch, he parked well
then found there's no key to stop the engine ?
He was very surprised until I told him how.

Actually, I'm kind of curious about having keyless go and using valets (porters).
Is there some sort of 'valet key' that comes with the card. Is that an extra piece that you have to carry around, or is it built into the card somehow?
If i have to sit there and explain my car to every valet I go to, that would suck. Keyless go is sounding more and more like an option that I don't wish to have.

Luxury cars like Mercedes used to have the 3rd key, valet key.
Cancelled since 2002 when I got my C32, I asked the Sales
"where is the valet key ?" "No, there're just two keys !"
No problem to leave the key on the car when valet parking.
Keyless go is also standard (not option) in my country.
Enjoy it if for free !
Once upon a time, a "boss" started his Mercedes Big SWent off the car ,put his coat in the trunk and closed it....
He used keyless entry & start, the card was in his coat
once this card is away from the driver seat, 1.5 meters
you can't move the car, everything were locked as well.
Now,the coat and card were both in the trunk and locked
Mercedes decided to integrated them into the "key" and always
stay with you........
