Replacing side view mirror

Yeah just had a really crappy week, and as I came into my garage, i came in too close on the side and just f*ucked up my side view mirror and its smashed. Im sure warranty doesnt cover it, but its not about the money. If anyone knows how fast this can be fixed at the dealer and how much, would really appreciate it. thanks

Try popping out the speaker cover right on the inside of the mirror, and then unfasten the speaker. If I recall correctly when I pulled my doors apart, the mirror assembly can be unscrewed from the inside and doesn't require the entire door to be pulled apart. It's easily a DIY job if I'm remembering right, and you can probably just order the parts thru the parts counter and have a body shop spray the paint and install it yourself.

appreciate the quick reply frisco, but im not mechanically inclined at all, let alone not having the right tools. I just wanted to see if this is something the dealer can fix in an hour or so with parts they would have on hand.

was hoping i could take it in tomorrow morning and have it ready by the afternoon or something.

My time estimate is 10 mins (aka 1 labor hour) to do the install once painted, and I'll venture to guess that it's about $500 for the mirror assembly. You could be looking at anywhere between a couple hundred bucks to $1k, with a turn around time less than a day. Do you have a pic of it? What city are you in?

i dont have any pics right now and its too dark to do it now. im actually in danville, so stead in WC and mb of pleasanton are both relatively close to me. do you think they would already have the mirror housing and base already painted or they would need to paint a new one? id figure they would have em on stock or some ****, just curiously. but yeah, i figured ill pay at absolute most 800 bucks for this to get done which by itself seems ridiculously high. oh well, price I pay for not being responsible.

The installation will take approximately an hour but they usually have to order the parts. They will usually receive the parts the next day or so.

The problem is there are a few pieces to make up the whole side mirror assemly (motor, housing, mirror glass, turn signal cover, turn signal, etc). Unless you're there, they would not know what to order.

thanks calboy, i figured something in that ballpark just thinkin up a rough estimate.
clk-1 - i took another look at it again, its not the whole mirror housing that doesnt need to get replaced after looking at it more. its just the signal lights that probably need to be replaced, the front mirror housing, not the whole thing, and then the base that the mirror is attached to just needs to be put back in place. the motor seems to be working, im able to adjust the mirror using the power function inside the cabin. im gonna go over to the dealership when i get a chance and see if its something that needs to be ordered or painted so i can get a better idea of timing with this. thanks.
