Wink I Have a Brochure - In My Hands

Just went to my dealer and he received 5 brochures today -- I ******ed one.

More data on the cars:

1) multicontour seats are an option -- but footnoted with "limited availability".
2) AMG will come with "sand brushed" aluminum
3) Patterned alum is an option on 500 and only avail with appearance package on the 320. Wood is std on both cars.
4) The AMG rims are similar to the C32AMG - twin five spoke.
5) Rear AC vents have their own blower....cool.
6) body work on 320 and 500 looks the same. 55AMG has the really cool stuff.
7) 55AMG has an improved transmission with a "tap left once and then the car will pick the right gear for immediate accelleration"
8) Can you say --- 13.6" brakes cross drilled brakes!!! (320 and 55 only)
9) MB 0-60 track speeds 320: 7.4, 500: 5.7, 55: 5.0 seconds

more to follow.

More data on USA Car

Standard offerings on 320 and 500 are identical with the following exceptions std on the 500.

1) obviously the v-8
2) 17" five spoke rims
3) The brakes (see previous msg)
4) chrome exhaust tip
5) chrome ringed instruments

Also, based on the description -- the European option called "TEMPTRONIC" is std on all US models. This is the one that monitors humidity and sun postion to ensure that the climate control works.

Answer to your questions:

any news on when the 55 comes out, it seems like nov/dec ?

No news yet - my dealer ris in the dark.

and is the body on the 500 and 55 the same minus the rims and spoiler...

hard to tell from pics, but in brochure one is "chiseled" (500) and the other is "sculpted" (55).....your guess is as good as mine if it is diff. Looks similar if not the same. The 320 has "wrap around" body work. All sounds like marketing buzz for the same thing.

finally what are the interior options on the 55

55 comes with all the 320 and 500 do, but std equip includes: sunroof, heated sts, multi-cont sts, sunshade.

thanks

4 follow up questions:

what are the options on the 55?

what are the interior color choices on the 55?

any designo news ?

is the Iolite blue offered as a color option ?

cheers and thanks again

Here are the answers to your follow-up questions.

what are the options on the 55?

I am not sure what you are asking. The options available for 55 are same as 320 and 500. However, more comes std (as noted previously - sunshade, sunroof, etc.). Other options available to all models are parktronic, distronic, COMMAND, etc.

what are the interior color choices on the 55?

Charcoal/Charoal
Charcoal/Dark Blue
Charcoal/Merlot

All are nubuck leather. For those of you interested in the 500 -- these are NOT available for the 500 -- there are other two tone choices for it.

any designo news ?

not in the brochure. It is not even mentioned.

is the Iolite blue offered as a color option ?

Color choices are: black, black opal, obsidian black, orion blue, capri blue, firemist red, desert silver, pewter, brilliant silver, everest green, ice blue, alabaster white.

3)Was there anywhere in the brochure that mentioned about Black Byrdseye Trim?? I guess 500 doesn't come with the Black Trim....

5)500 does not come with AMG body kit as in the MBUSA website (the grilled front and...)???

8)So 320 and 55 share same brake system and 500 has a different one????

I don't even know what is going on...

CLKfrk, you said that the 320 and 55 come with cross drilled rotors?? Did you mean the 500 and 55..thats really weird if the 320 got it and not the 500....I hope you misprinted that....also how does the aluminum trim look and are you willing to post the brochure on the web? Thanks for your time

my bad 500 and 55 get the good brakes.

On the aluminum trim --- the patterned alum (for the 500) looks good -- same as all photos I have seen on the web and on this forum.

the sand blasted aluminum for the 55 is not shown clearly, but the best I can describe is that it has a matte finish -- almost like a pewter -- not as shiny, but a very clean and classy look.

On posting -- aboslutely if anyone near me (Dublin, Ohio) has a digi camera. I am an old fashioned 35mm kind of camera person. Please, no harassment from members of the board for not having stepped into the digital era! <g>.

Questions answered below.

3)Was there anywhere in the brochure that mentioned about Black Byrdseye Trim?? I guess 500 doesn't come with the Black Trim....

NOPE. Burl and then the two aluminums mentioned before.

5)500 does not come with AMG body kit as in the MBUSA website (the grilled front and...)???

The exterior features setion of the brochure lists the body features as follows:

Grills -- 500 and 55 match
Side Skirts -- All have different (see my prev. note)
Spoiler on trunk lid -- only the 55
Mesh Intakes -- 500 and 55
Chrome Exhaust -- 320, 500 (larger on 500); dual exhaust on 55
Blue Glass -- 500 and 55

8)So 320 and 55 share same brake system and 500 has a different one????

I corrected my previous mistake in a prior msg. 500 and 55 share the good brakes.

2002 CLK 55 AMG Coupe ;)
9) MB 0-60 track speeds 320: 7.4, 500: 5.7, 55: 5.0 seconds.
That means, the new CLK55 is SLOWER than the 2001/2 CLK55 AMG Coupe,
because of the additional 300 pounds, -
despite the additional 20 HP!!

CLKfrk, I wonder if that brochure is accurate b/c I have visited the MB Headquarters several times where there is at least a dozen 209's and I haven't seen one of them with the cross drilled brakes....I guess we all have to wait until we get our own
