CLK 550 performance

There is no way a 550 is running 12.8-13.0. Unless it's on slicks. Even if it might trap around 106.
I ran one from a roll today (10-15mph). I was behind the 550, (he got the jump) by the time I hit 100 mph I was 2 car lengths ahead. Considering my car runs a 0-100mph in about 9 sec. the 550 should be around 12-13 sec. 550 1/4 mile 13.2-13,4 105-106 is much more realistic.

0-60mph for CLK550 should be right at 4.9-5.0, which is damn fast.

CLK550 has 49hp more, has a 7sp. I don't see any reason why it couldn't hit high 12's.

I think many of the predictions here are a little optimistic. The August Road and Track has the CLK63 AMG Black Series at 0-60, 4.1 seconds. 1/4 mile at 12.4 and 115mph. Pretty impressive stuff! Remember that the Black is lots lighter and has other go fast goodies along with 507 bhp. Good article by the way.

Not lighter
The clk63 black weighs around 3900 lbs. Not lighter then the CLK550. I own a CLK550 and its definitely fast. Torque is amazing and the 7 speed is very responsive in manual mode. Haven't timed it, but the 0-60 is definitely sub 5 if you don't smoke the tires.

2003 Porsche 996
I'm new but I've been lurking for a while...
I bought a 550 about a thousand miles ago to replace a porsche 911. In all honesty, I don't think there is much difference between the two in terms of straight-line speed. In fact, you could calculate the power:weight ratio of the two to discover that the 550 has a miniscule advantage. The 911 is a low 13 second 1/4 mile car, so I don't doubt the same for the Benz.

I have a 2007 clk 550 with sport suspension and 18 inch wheels. I bought it used with 28000 miles on it about 3 months ago. got a good deal. No matter what anybody believes the power is serious and the braking isnt bad either. . its just that the front wheels dont really catch that good coming around corners, or maybe its becuase i take them at 90+ dont know.. but i would have to say the clk 55 amg has to have better handling.
