well, it has a mix between the two, the CLK has almost the same spedometor, the CLK where the alarm blinker buttons are is almost the same as the C class, everything below is very much like the E class, but unlike the E class, the C class has a square'ish look much like the CLK class, as appose the E class which has that curve from the center and out.... the CLK's center middle dash where the shifter is is almost the same as C class.

It’s seem you got not knowledge about cars the clk 55 is a e class
The CLK has always been based on the C class platform..The new one is no exception....If you can remember, the old CE body was based on the E class...It also had a price that was $ 60K back in 1995...By making a coupe out of the C class, they were able to bring out the CLK at $39,000....Please prove me wrong...I would love to see a E class based coupe...Just be prepared to pay 70-80 K for it if it comes out...

MB’s
No CLK of any kind of anywhere is a E Class or anything like a E Class. In MB History there have 2 REAL E Coupes! The 124 was a real E Coupe and the C238 E Class. Everything else is just a C Coupe. The CLK W209 is a C Coupe. It always has been. It looks, feels, drives, breaks, handles, rides just like the W203 it is based on. I have owned 3 CLK’s and a W203 C and they even share parts. Many shared parts. The interiors are nearly identical.
