The CLK 500 doesnt come with and Airmatic suspension?

No, AIRMATIC is absent for MY03.
Hope it can be standard in the next model year 2004

The airmatic available in E500 do confuse me in the very beginning
Which one should I buy ? W211 or W209
I already have a baby S (C32AMG) , so I decide to take the coupe.
W211/E55 will be a nice trade for C32, few years later.

Exhaust..
Shine,

Could you tell me about your exhaust tip? I thought CLK500 stock exhaust only has one exhaust tip?

You stated you changed the tips only. How did you end up with quad exhaust?

Shine about your coilovers.....I have never heard of KW, are they a good company and do you hear any sort of weird sounds after installing them..I know with some coilovers you will hear clunking and other noises, is this so with KW and do you recommend them for anyone else? THanks in advance

Thanks, Z-Dude.

CLKfanatic :
I won't specific recommend KW kits.(Not a famous brand)

You could check the W208 forum first, find the best comment
& available brand agent near where you live.
e.g H&R, Kleemann, Sachs ....

About the "installation",there's knowledge........ hang on

For people wanna lower your car

About lowering the car
we're not talking about "plug & play"
Yes, you can find a few aftermarket kits and have it installed by the shop
But how long does it take ? 3 hours ? including test drive & alignment....
Wrong ! I meet a proffesional guy,skillful & knowledged
He teaches me a lesson
The multi-link suspension is very complicated, a lot of junctions there
when lower a car,it's not just putting short spring & shocks,
all the junctions are "relocated" means stress between junctions is changed
under factory tolerance is one thing, they're no more "Optimized"
The technician need fine tune those junctions one by one and
"re-optimized"
them to best the performance and life time of kits,of course.
It takes double ~triple the time of "plug & play" where most of the shops do the quick installation.
Hope this's helpful to you.
My car will hand to him for this "optimization" next week

By melting the quad tail pipes to the factory muffler.
Sounds quiet but looks great !

some people wanna sporty sound, that's ok to swap the muffler.

Shine,

I'm assuming the person doing the work is very knowledgeable about MB cars and mutilink suspensions, but does he or you for that matter know about any risks of lowering the car? IE. additional stresses on the suspension, tires, reduced lifespan, any dangers? I don't know that much about it. Thanks!

W208 vs. W209
Shine:

You have to post the picture of the W209 next to the W208 on the "208 vs. 209" forum. Is that your W209 in that picture? If it is, I do think that your car does look more "modern" than the W208. But, it definetly proves that the stock W209 needs to be lowered. You said that the system lowered the car between 35 - 65 mm. How much was your's lowered? Thanks.

Hi, Z-Dude
Mine, yes and you point out the fact.
"After lowered mine, they looks the same height", the stock w209
then is too height for a coupe. IMO

I'm lucky to install this stuff as soon as a C32(not mine) had finished, save the try & error process.
So, just a copy w/o precisely measure.
According to your pics (my 2 = your 1.5)
F : 5 -> 1.5 fingers
R: 4 -> 1.5 unit : Z-Dude's finger

The new E vs new CLK
I hate to say this, but the new E looks lower than the new CLK .

Don't get me wrong, the CLK 320 and 500 drive better IMO than the outgoing W208 (I have test drove the W208 and W209), but they sit wayyyyyy toooooo high!!!!!

Every picture I have seen with the new E, it looks to have a lower profile, or, at least, a better height to width ratio.....

Also, I see on the UK website that the 18" AMG wheels are standard on the W209 CLK 55 vs. the old 17" AMG wheels, and they are an accessory option for the 320 and 500:p .
