Clk 550
#4
I called up 2 local Mercedes dealers already this week and none of them had any information on the CLK550 at all. They said info will probably be released in about 2 months.
I really want to break my current lease and get into a CLK550. I've heard that the Lorinser S550 has 425hp from just a chip and exhaust. I would love to have that same 425 in a CLK.

MBUSA has already announced that the CLK550 is coming for the 2007 model year:
http://emercedesbenz.com/May06/26_MB...formation.html
CLK-Class Coupe and Cabriolet:
* High-performance CLK63 AMG Cabriolet (475 hp, 465 lb.-ft.) replaces the 362-hp CLK55 AMG
* CLK550 (382 hp, 391 lb.-ft.) replaces the 302-hp CLK500, joins the CLK350
* All-new Sports Appearance Package for CLK350
The only models that keep the old 5L SOHC V8 are the ML500, R500 and G500, now why that is I have no idea.

I would have expected sub 5.

Heck even the CLK63 Cab which weighs in at almost 4000 lbs went from a 5.4 to 60 car to a 4.5 to 60 (for 07). If they offered the coupe it probably would do 0-60 in 4.2 or 4.3.

CLK550's are shipping
The CLK550's are shipping. I don't know if some have already arrived, but a batch is on the boat for delivery end of July. I just placed an order today but the options I want aren't on the boat, so mine won't come until late September. While I was at the dealer, I saw one guy pick up his brand new SL550. There weren't any 550's on the floor because they are selling them as fast as they come in.

A quick walkaround today reveals that the local dealer here has no 07' CLS, CLK or E's at least not on the lot. He has plenty of 06 CLS, E, and a few CLK500 Cabrios. There are a few 06' S65s and SL500s around too. There are some 07 SL550s, SL55s and pleny of GL450s and S550s though.

Car and Driver have already tested the SL550 and it ran 4.9sec 0-60 with the same engine and transmission while weight in at more than 4000lbs. If you think the CLK550 is gonna do anything less...think again.

I think the 07' "550" cars are real bargains for a Mercedes. I mean we're talking 1993 600SEL hp (well close enough to the 389hp that model had then) here across nearly the entire range of V8 cars! Now the CLK63 has more hp than the outgoing E55? That is mind-boggling to me.
