Hi Scott320, where did you get the front grille with the star emblem?
Maybe you could post a link?
Nice ride, btw!

Thanks, i had two grills; the original and the one seen that was a single chrome blade. The one above i switched the star from the original five blade as i painted the chrome single blade.

So you're saying that gloss star with the glass/plastic front, like the stars fitted to the new cars now, was fitted on an original OEM grill? Did you fit the star to the original grill yourself? Or did you buy it like that? Certainly didn't come with the car from the factory, but I would like to experiment with that emblem, but on my OEM 3-slat grill, if it is indeed possible.

Now that u mention it your correct, i did at the start switch the grill to the one thats there now before the paint. When i switched the emblems the factor one with the vented star matched the vent style grill however it came with the gloss star.

So, do you like glass version more than vented one?

I think there is also two different versions of the gloss star.
One just has the area behind the star covered off, and the second is like the modern distronic stars, that are actually painted or whatever inside the glossy piece.
In other words, the star is not protruding from the glossy surface.

The gloss surface gives it a better appearance of course because it gives a sutle luxury look with the race appeal of the vented grill behind it. Versus me thinking the vented star would serve a better purpose of air flow combined with the vented grill but everyday i look at it like I just didnt like it but cant explain why.

I'm not a fan of the single blade grills, personally. However I do very much like the gloss emblems that you have. Will that gloss star retrofit on to my factory 3-slat?

Sailorben; yes i made it fit onto the oem blades first granted the emblem where different design pop ins but i made it work. As far as the part numbers go when i got this car it ca came with the two grills. However i see it each time i put in the w209 clk parts on ebay.

Also another selling at £120. Don't know if they will fit our standard 3 grill though. The advert says some cars of the w204 era, but Scott seems to have made it fit alright.
