2003 CLK 320
Question purchasing 2003 clk

Planning to purchase a 2003 clk 320 the base price is 43,900.00 freight is 665.00 met paint is 665.00 k3 package is 1,375.00 heated seats is 650.00 and 6cd changer is 400.00. Grand total of 47,655.00 this does not include tax. The sales person I am dealing with is telling me that with this being a new style there is no room to deal he will give me only free winter mats. I Thought I might get one or two options free. Let me know if any one purchasing a 2003 clk has been able to make a deal. Is this a waste of my time to try to negotiate price?

With some dealers adding ADM (additional dealer mark-up) to the price of CLKs, it seems unlikely that you'll get a "deal" (I paid sticker for my CLK500), but it's always worth a try....

When Mercedes moved to "Value Pricing" about five years ago as a pricing-based marketing ploy, the spread between a car's invoice cost and its retail price was halved, making less money availbale to the dealer as profit. For a newly designed model in its initial production run (like the CLK), I'd expect to pay sticker price. You would here in DC. The mats are a nice touch.

paid sticker for my CLK500; 62,900, no more, no less (in Ft. Laud.). If there's any fudging, it might have been on the 'trade' value, but even there I think they basically paid solid wholesale (good deal for them on a low mileage CLK430). This tends to be the way it goes; impossible to expect retail trade vs. retail new; on a premium (short supply) car. Seems fairly realistic.

I doubt any frequent customer would be charged over sticker; as well I doubt any would get 'deals' this early in a model cycle. For that matter, even older models don't have the spreads they did in the past; so the best approach may be watching the value of a trade, or being happy to pay sticker if there's no trade. Agree?
