im guessing your talking about the coin holder? it slides in and out, you can just push it in to get it out of the way.... i put all my quarters in there.....

what i think he's referring to is the big compartment on the bottom, not the smaller compartment on top. do you have navigation? because i do and some sort of module for the navigation system is installed in the lower part of the middle compartment. it takes up all the space.

i was also talking about the deeper department... i have navi, but i have alot of space to put stuff in the compartment (it also has a vent to have the compartment cooled/heated depending on how i set the climate control)

I was under the impression that the deeper compartment was a secret compartment to store your wallet, cell phone, or other personal belongings in case you need to valet park, which is why it has the lock on it.

Yeah I have a huge box in it also. I am assuming it is for the rear fan?

weird, I have a large open space with a little slide draw where I put things out of the way, like coins etc. How odd... have you asked at a dealers to find out what it is?

Me too!

I also have the same thing in my middle compartment. I have a 2004 CLK320. I thought every CLK was like this. I am glad someone brought it up here. I can only fit my little LED flashlight in there.

I have that exact same thing in my middle compartment. I was told that it was some module for the navigation. Was I lied to? My dealer does that a lot.

THAT THING IS THE BOOSTER FAN FOR THE REAR PASSENGERS - it is optional equipment...it has a FAN underneath that cover and that fan gets controlled by the ventilation roller in the rear of the armrest...

greetingz,
