The status of my car..

I figured since a few of you have been nice enough to inquire what the deal with my car is, that I'd start a thread to keep everybody updated. Lord knows I think about the car all day, so it'll be my pleasure to keep everybody updated with its status.

I called my dealership again today.. asking what the deal was. They said they got a big shipment of cars in today, but they were all 2003 E-Classes. Neato for them, still sucks to be me. I spoke to my salesman, and he told me that he hasn't heard anything about a delay, and that it should still be in some time this week. It went from Monday, to "early in the week", to "some time this week". *Sigh*.

Will I have my car in time for college this weekend? The saga continues.

Two questions, one comment ?

1. When did it clear Customs at VPC? They get a report which will shows that.

2. Where you off to school?

*My salesman who has been with Star Motors here in Houston 20+ years said that until it is loaded they do not tell you it is shipped from VPC.

Sorry.. huh?

1. When did it clear Customs at VPC? They get a report which will shows that.

2. Where you off to school?

1) I don't know anything about it clearing customs or leaving the VPC. I would think there's a way to track that stuff, but my salesman is such a frucken moron that I really dont know if he'd know how to do all that.

2) Boston. I go to a school called Bentley College - right outside Boston. Its a pretty good business school that specializes integrating business and computers.

*My salesman who has been with Star Motors here in Houston 20+ years said that until it is loaded they do not tell you it is shipped from VPC.

Is that more bad news? Its very possible it has been shipped from the VPC or will be shipped from the VPC without my salesman knowing about it - right??

hope you get the car man... mine showed up on MB 'netstar' as it was on the water; then at the VPC, then left the VPC, and 2 days later it was here. As it left the VPC the computer printed out the pricing etc.; shouldn't be a problem; as that was only delayed in the time before introduction. Now; it should print-out before the car is shipped. Your salesman doesn't have to know much; just how to scan the inbound list; and click on your car. If he doesn't know how to do that, ask his manager to do it for him. Takes about 10 seconds. Good luck with the car and school!

They should have a print out to show you of all cars ordered. This will show that if at the VPC, it is "in process". My dealer had no problem showing me this print out.

First off.. that Bentley coupe is *SICK*.

My salesman did show me a print-out of the car, with pricing. I guess that is a good sign. Last week.. he told me that the car would be in 10 days from the previous Friday (8/16).. which should have been yesterday, August 26th.

The thing is.. what would this 10-day span have been? When the car leaves the VPC, it takes like 2-3 days to get to the dealership. So where he got 10 days from, I don't know. But my father, the pesimist, is starting to bring me down and is making me believe the car won't be here for school on Sunday.

What dealership are you getting the car from? We went to Manhattan to pick up the E500 yesterday, though I did not see any CLKs or any other E's there, and according to the dealer, our E was the first one out in NY because somebody who was in first spot was nowhere to be found when it was time to pick up his car, so we got to go in first.

My dealer showed me his inventory report. There is a status called "Ready for Shipment" which means just that -- at the VPC and on the truck in 2-3 days. Another status is "Shipped" which means just that -- on the truck and on the way. Check with your dealer and find out what his inventory report says.

Nope. It's just that I've never noticed punctuality in the list of dealer virtues.

That, and a bit of jealousy go a long way...

/me hides my face in shame...

My first message stands, though. You'll have it Just relax and think of all the good time you gonna have with that nice car...awww...

I've had enough

I've had enough of getting screwed around.. tomorrow, I know that my salesman will not be working, and I'm going to visit the dealership with intentions of speaking to the owner. I'm going to tell him that I'm basing my plans over the next few days on whether or not the car is coming. I'm going to ask him to show me on the Netstar system the exact location and status of my car, because its bull***** already. Whether its tomorrow or its in 2 weeks, I need to know when my car will be in.

First off - I'm now on bad terms with a lot of the salesmen at my dealership. A couple of weeks ago, I went to the dealership, and I saw a CLK500 there. It happened to be "The Don"'s car. One of the jabronie salesmen started the car up, took it out, and let me sit in it. "The Don" told me he wasn't mad at me - but mad at them for letting people start his car up and sit in it before he got to. Completely understandable. "The Don" told me that he ripped them a new @sshole, and since then, I've been getting the shaft whenever I call or visit the dealership. I guess I got a few people in trouble

Well - I spoke to my salesman today. Basically.. to sum the 'meating' up.. I bent over, grabbed my ankles, and he gave it to me up the tailpipe, once again.

He said the car is expected in any day now, and there's no word on it being delayed. I asked him if the car could be tracked on Netstar, or if there was ANYTHING that could be done to get a definitive answer as to where the car is right now - if its at the VPC or what - and he said no.

He told me that Mercedes has been wanting to get the new E-Classes shipped out, which is why my car has been shafted so far this week. He told me the end of the month is Saturday, and it would really be in their best interests to get the car out by then. I guess its good for their dealership or something. Soooooo - I'm hoping by Saturday it'll be in.

But guess what? My parents are going on our boat this weekend for the holiday, and won't be able to pay for the car or pick it up until Monday - when I'll already be back at school! AWESOME!

So basically - my dad will probably wind up driving my car 3 1/2 hours up to Boston some time next week. Somebody, kill me. There is still the 2-3% chance the car comes in tomorrow and all will be right in the world... but why? Why would something good and something in my favor actually happen to me?!

Thumbs down Please...

This is hilarious. Before, Likuid, you were talking about how you had "earned" this car with some website or some crap like that. Now the truth comes out that Mommy and Daddy are buying it for you.

Dude, it's so funny to think of you driving around in this $60K+ car as a college (freshman? sophomore?) trying to be cool and pick up babes like you've talked about endlessly. I've got news for you bud, you're just going to look like the spoiled brat that your words have betrayed you to be on this board.

Come to think of it, any babe who falls for you because of this car will be PERFECT for you. :p :p :p

Re: Please...

Papa Legba , I'd like you know that I take I take offense to your post.

This is hilarious. Before, Likuid, you were talking about how you had "earned" this car with some website or some crap like that. Now the truth comes out that Mommy and Daddy are buying it for you.

What are you talking about? What truth came out? I earned enough money to pay for the entire car, and will be paying for some of it. How much, I'm not sure yet - but daddy isn't buying it for me.

Dude, it's so funny to think of you driving around in this $60K+ car as a college (freshman? sophomore?) trying to be cool and pick up babes like you've talked about endlessly. I've got news for you bud, you're just going to look like the spoiled brat that your words have betrayed you to be on this board.

I don't really give a ***** how I look to you.. I'll be a sophmore driving the car, 19 years old. How does driving a nice car constitute me "trying to be cool"? Do you think for a second I'm going to be ashamed or feel awkward driving it? Not even for a second. I will never be ashamed of my or my family's success. Upset you can't get your kid one? Work harder.

Come to think of it, any babe who falls for you because of this car will be PERFECT for you. :p :p :p

I agree! Bring the ***** on!
