CLK 5xx sports suspension option

I got my CLK550 with the sports suspension option. (not the same as the option for the 350). Its a real bargain on the 5xx at less than $300. It really makes a difference in handling, but I am going nuts trying to figure out exactly what they are using. The shocks are stiffer and the springs are stiffer AND have a slight drop. At this price, I doubt that they developed or maintain the parts for this purpose alone. Are these the same springs and shocks as they had on the AMG? Or what other model / vehicle?

it is not the same set up as on the amg models because they actually have a lower ride height. what you are paying for is a different set of springs. i got the option on my 06 clk350 and ended up replacing the springs anyway because it was not aggressive enough for me.

no the sport suspension option on the v8 clks

have different shocks, springs and have a lower ride height (very small) but i dont think its the same setup they use in the AMG model. I actually think its the setup they use in any european V8 clk model. They raise and soften the cars for the US market to adjust to potholed roads.

you are right. the shocks are also different. all clks should come with this setup as standard. the stock suspension is jacked up. and takes away from the sportiness of the car.

what did you swap out the sport spring set with? Did you keep the shocks? What shocks did you find inside?

I put H & R springs on there. I kept the factory shocks and still have a good ride. the handling and aesthetics are much better. sits a touch lower than the amg does. the best mod you can do to this car.
