It's longer, it's wider, and it's thicker.

Its all the same part numbers, what they meant was the sequence in which your keys were made. Since you have a key you would want to make sure that this next key is made as the NUMBER 2 key. Basically that it is a spare. Hopefully this helps. And by the way the key looks so swwwwweeeeeeeet and works like a charm. Thanks to everyones posts I finally pulled the trigger and got it. The most difficult part is getting the dumb *** parts guys to shut up and do as you say, other than that it is a great functional key.

no problem man. they will probably ask for you to come in and place the order since they need your drivers lic, VIN, and it to be prepaid prior to ordering.

Yeah but they take much longer. I would say oem parts was much easier though. I ordered another key from them just to see how much easier it might be. I ordered about a week and a half ago and just barely shipped out on friday. So rather than a two day wait it will probably end up being a 2 week wait.

Quote: keyless go keys must be programmed through the star diagnosis-you have to order key by key track and program it. the other keys do not-unless you have the older style keys(sitchblade type).
Hi! We bought a used 06 CLK500 a few months ago and I bought the 2007 Chrome key through the dealer. The parts guy said he ordered my key with keyless go and I just tried it tonight and everything works on the key except keyless go. Do I make an appointment with service department to have them program this key to my keyless go system in my car through star diagnosis? Sorry, I'm a noob!

I see. Bummer!

I wonder what the 2007 key looks like for the 2007 CLK550 with Keyless Go.

Has anyone try to swap out the key internals? Now that I can't return the key, I might as wel give it a try if it isn't too hard. Anyone have instructions or pointers.

I have a 07 CLK550 Cab with Keyless Go. The key is chrome and looks just like the other pictures of the chrome key in this thread. BTW, before I took delivery, I thought that Keyless Go was really just a gimmick. After utilizing it on a daily basis for three months now, I'm so used to it that having to use a manual remote to get into and a key to start the 996 is really a hassle. Who knew how spoiled you could get! Barring any future problems with it, i heartily recommend the Keyless Go option.

New Chrome key.
I ordered the new key from oem part direct dot com for my 00CLK (1/31/07), they request the proof of ownership, FAX the registration & driver license. Received the key on 02/12/07, work as expected. Total $61.58 (included shipping), since the price increase to $114 (from $48), total over $120 (still cheaper than Fletcher Jones quote $200.00, but NOT SURE I will get the CHROME key).

AMGPARTS18,

Would you please post the part numbers for vehicles WITH Keyless Go? Can this key be "coded" to work with my '06 CLK with Keyless Go?

Can I call and order from Ray Catena Parts?

Thanks!

It used to be: A 221 766 09 06 9999

It now is: A 230 766 10 06 9999

The part number for the blade is unchanged.

My bro just got the new key for his 2006 clk500 it works fine. if you want to get it for free and still have the warranty on your car try shorting it out they have to give you a new one if that happens

From this article it says...

"the key's radio transmitter allows you to start the car without fumbling through your pocket or purse."

Is this a new feature with the new keys?
