Is the passenger switch selected for the mirror control when you are reversing the car?

Did you try to reset the mirror and see if the memory will hold the mirror positions? Perhaps it was reset.

you also might want to try putting the car in reverse, setting the mirror adjustment button to the passenger's side, and then adjusting the mirror. The same thing happened to me once and it turned out that I had just adjusted the mirror by accident so that it stayed in the normal position regardless of whether it was in reverse and set for the passenger side.

Sorry to bump an old thread, but I just got a 2006 CLK and the passenger side mirror does not tilt in reverse.

The parking assist is enabled in the center console and the passenger mirror adjustment is selected next to the light switch.

What I've tried so far is, go into the car, hold down #1 so everything moves to my memory. Press M and press #1 again, put the car into reverse adjust mirror and put back into drive and the mirror does NOT come back up to driving position.

What am I doing wrong/missing?

The side mirror tilt is only for the passenger side mirror. So have your regular driving setting before changing. Leave it at passenger mirror switch. Put in reverse and edit your passenger side mirror only. Put it in drive. Your mirror should be change back to your regular driving configuration. Leave it at the passenger side mirror switch in order to keep using it for reverse tilting.
