If it's a noise, then it's not the MAF. Sounds mechinical. Can you describe the noise?

Is it a "Clunking" sound?

Is there a jolt in the transmission under acceleration like the transmission slipped?

Is the noise still present when driving in either "W" or "C" mode?

Could be coolant contamination in the trans which is a well known issue with 03-04 CLK's and other MB's...take it to the dealer as they have a simple test to check for this and if it is contamination it should be covered under warr.

If it's a transmission coolant contamination it's a very large job. When I had that problem, the entire transmission, radiator, and torque converter were replaced. I believe the cost was in excess of $10K.

You will need to be more specific if you want our help. Simply saying that it's making noise doesn't help us help you identify the problem.

Like I asked before, what kind of noise is being made?

Is there a jerk or a hard shift when you're driving?

At how many RPMs does this happen?

Oh yes.. this problem.. Yes, with your fantastic description, it's very easy to diagnose and fix. Simply get in your car, put it in drive, and put into either C or S mode (whichever you usually use). Reverse out of your driveway, and drive towards the nearest mechanic that has a symbol on it's sign that looks just like the one in the middle of your steering wheel airbag.

Hand over your keys and describe the noise - refrain from guessing what the noise could be out loud. If it's a simple fix, and you told the mechanic what you thought it might be - Mass Airflow Sensor, Fuel Level Sensor, Rear Axle Bushings.. as the mechanic will also charge you to replace those, to make you feel smart, as you diagnosed the problem all by yourself.

Hand over a check or credit card.

I had this problem and it was the radiator fluid contaminating the transmission. They replaced the radiator and flushed the tranny and now it drives like new.

That's Transmission problem...I got the EXACTLY The same problem....turn out it cost alomst 5k....if u dont want to to sell ur car, buy extended waranty NOW...and in like 3-4 months ur car willl maybe broke down.

After you heard that kind of noise, it will start slip when you kick down, it's like the you change the transmission to "N", the engine will only rev, and the car wont accelerate...

My suggest : Sell the car... I SPENT 8 MONTH until now, just trying to fix the car.
