Angry Problem!!

The engine sound is really bugging me!!

I usually listen to my music pretty loud and I haven't noticed, but my friend pointed out that my engine (something else) sounded weird!!

As the car is at rest in D position, it makes a constant and frequent 'da da da da da' sound. Is this normal? I wanna sit in another CLK500! Should I take it to the dealer? what should I do? I'm freaking out here!!! Help!!!!

If the problem is happening everytime you put the car in Drive, I would surely take it to the dealer's service drive right away. It may not be something major, but you never know!!! Also, maybe you can get a sales rep. to let you sit in another CLK500 and see if it makes the same noise.

I believe you are refernig to the "diesel" type noise. I asked my service guy and he said that is normal...something with the fuel injectors. I thought it was weird too, but he says it's normal. Please ask your service people as well, because I would like to get a second opinon :P

Yes, W211 owners raised this ticking sounds as well as W203.
It has been modified a little since 2000/W203, Been an owner
of W203, this complaint exists long......
MB try to isolate those tiny feul pipes from ticking, do improved
in W209, your ears are still sensitive

MB CLK500
Angry

Just found this forum and joined because I have the ticking problem described in this and two other posts. I wanted to see if anyone has gotten a confirmation from MB on the problem.

Here's my short history:
Sept - Pick up new 2003 CLK500 and notice ticking sound
Mid-Sept - MB says sound is normal
Early Oct - MB acknowledges problem - waiting on instructions from Germany.
Early Nov (today) - believes problem is moter mounts like E500, but no fix ready - will get back to me.

This really bugs me that I have had the car almost 10 weeks and they still don't have a fix!! Is this normal for MB (my first!)?

Thanks and Great Forum!

I've got the manual box and it works a treat - no noise at all.

Michael.

is this a known issue with the fuel pipes from clicking?
MB has never fix this for all these period?

I have had this problem too and took it to the dealer. They said the ticking noise is normal but if its too loud they can replace some type of module in the car that makes the ticking sound. I forgot what the module is called tho. I went to my dealer about 2 months ago because of this problem and they fixed it for me. hope this helps. If i find out what the module is called ill post it up.

thanks AznxKCBoy

I susspect what they replace for you is the air valve bracket or they put something underneath.

I tried it on my car but i still can hear the soft clicking or da da da da sound.

I Will take the car in to check

let u know what i found out.

Cheers

ok i found my old invoice from the dealer where i brought my car to. I actually brought my car in twice to the dealer

1) the first time I went was because I found that the stuttering noise came when I accelerated. I brought the car to the dealer and they said it was because of the engine mounts. They replaced it and after I drove it, I did not hear much of any da da da sounds anymore.

2) the second time was not that far away, maybe a couple weeks after. I heard stuttering noises when my engine was just running and not when i was accelerating. I took my car in and had it checkup up. The dealer found to be the purge valve to be noisier than normal, so they replaced the purge valve. After that I could not hear anymore stuttering or da da da noises.

The dealer told me the purge valves will normally make a ticking noise but the one that got replaced was louder than usual.

So maybe you should bring your car for checkup of the engine mounts and purge valves. Hope this helps!
