CLK500 vs. SC430

Humm. Still really torn.
A 05 clk is a bit out of my price range.
So far I been waying most of my options.
I'll make a decision by next weekend. So far I'm leaning towards the SC because of the interior. hard decision but please keep the opinions coming.

Sad Day...
I have made my decision.
I test drove both cars and was blown away by the sc. It just sucked me in.
Not as fast and deadly quiet but The fitting and interior was flawless. I called and purchased one from a dealer in GA and I am getting it next weekend.

I will not be joing your elite ranks...but I will still be on this forum because,
I still have my c230 sports coupe.
I'll post pics shortly.

i can relate...i used to own a SC400 and it was a great car - well built and very reliable, and certainly comfortable. i think after driving any car for a while, you kind of yearn for variety. even for me, switching between my E55 to my 95 E320 Cab and occasionally driving my wife's 540i...they're all fun. theis is not like choosing a wife for a lifetime...most just having some fun for a while and tryin something else next.
p.s. i still think it's a chick car though...ever since demi moore driving it, LOL.

I admit it's a bit girl but I think I can pull it off.
As for the guy who asked why chose the SC...
Just a difference of taste I guess.
I weighed the pros and cons.
SC vs 500
Interior
SC- For me to get an interior looking as good, i woul have to spend 7 gs more than i wanted to for a 05 clk
Exterior
CLK- Close one Clk just looks a bit more manly but not by much, they'r both great looking cars
Speed
CLK - But i don't really care about topline power, just want it there when i want to
Refinment -
SC - 99% come with a nav system and is deathly quiet. I need some quiet when I'm wooing the ladies
Value -
SC - A convertible that feels like a regular coupe is a great value. With the CLK I would have gotten 1 or the other. With the SC i get both.
Trunk -
CLK- SC has no trunk
Rear seats -
CLK - But I don't need them
Relaibility -
SC -I have researched as much as i could and it sounds like there are more issues with the CLK than with the SC. Biggest issue i came across was a Tire Press. Monitor relay that burns out and must be changed.
Furture Proof -
SC - No new version has been seen as of yet, Which leads me to believe i still have 2 years left before it's replacement hits the streets. However, the new CLK hits next year. This means lower resale value and a serious case of car envy from me. You guys have gotten your money's worth over the years.
Price -
SC - Bought one with 40K miles for $25900. An amazing value seeing that the retail price is 31K.
In the end
how could I lose.
SC vs CLK - either way I should be honored to even have a choice. I could be driving a BMW ( i kid, i kid)

But guys listen, admit it, once you ride SC - the smooth yacht sailing ride, turn on that orchestra quality Mark Levinson ... man, then it gets hard to pick another car, plus very truly, the value Lexus has built/provided, is hard to ignore for those quantitative/risk weighing CRO rich buttheads.
b/w: those wheels look quite nice. I wish mine were atleast chromed! ... perhaps someday ... but I would hate to go over balancing 'n alignment again
but i'm just miffed, how could u get it for for 26k ? usually SC is just 2-4k less than CLK, which year is it?

CLK 500 Cabriolet and A160L
Still a Lexus, the car without a past, without a history, without a soul. ![nix](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/nixweiss.gif)

I find the styling lovely, the price was right, it drives well and it is study.
Like I explained, i couldn't have made a wrong choice either way. The clk would have cost me 26-28K. Normally this is a 31K car. So i saved almost 5K.
It's nice to start off on a loan in the black.

Congratulations. Although I'd much rather have a CLK, M3, or maybe even a G35 over the Lex, its still a nice car. Hard top convertible, ultra-lux interior, soft and quiet...its a good car if you're letting your girl drive. And thats not a diss, I often times let girls drive my car and they love how smooth it is. I'm sure its even better with the Lex. Personally though, my CLK is way too soft for me. I could never live with a Lexus, maybe the new IS-F, but otherwise Lexus is on the bottom of my list. But enjoy your car
you made a wise decision considering what you want.

This is an MB forum what do expect? ![rolf](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/rofl.gif)
I'd choose the SC's over the CLK. Buddy got one (went from e36 m3 to SC). Very nice and reliable. Only complaint was the rear seat room. If possible I'd upgrade the tail lights to LED ones from newer ones. They're sexy.

1 V10, 2 V8
i drive a clk55 amg. i wanted to get the sc430 before but i needed the power. i came from a lancer evolution. if u want a hardtop convert, get the SC. if u want the name, get the clk. it's what u prefer. most importantly, where do u live? A lot of snow, get the CLK. minimal snow, get the SC. Both need snow tires with the V8.
