hey guys sorry to dig up such an old thread but I am interested in both of these cars and was wondering if anyone has had any experience going head to head with an is350. or even driven an is350 and how it compares to a clk500.

Not if it s a stick, same engine/ basic car as the 350z I had, and if its the 6spd you will lost given the fact the owner can drive stick good

Well I guess more than anything I would like to know what the benefits of having one car over the other would be, performance wise and luxury wise. most stats show that an is350 is quicker to 60mph than a clk500 and perhaps the is350 would spend less time in the shop for little mechanical/electrical problems like a german car might, also maybe repair costs are a little heavier with the merc?

my bro had the IS. it is very sporty comapred to the CLK, overall comfort the benz wins. When take into consideration maintance cost and such the Lexus win. I chose the benz because of the total package and feel, if it was from a financial standpoint then the lexus would win.

Lets just say the clk500 matches up fairly well.A CLK500 does not match up well with a C5 vette.
A CLK500 weighs nearly 3700 pounds and has only 300 hp. 14 sec qtr mile
A C5 weighs around 3,200 and has 350 hp. high 12 to 13 sec qtr mile
And don't even think about C6's.
I've driven all the cars mentioned.
