i dont recommend that setup. looks like you would be sucking in too much hot air from the motor.

Set up does look bad *** though. Would love to know if you get any gains from it.

looks cool. did u have ur car chipped. or exhaust? i was thinking of doing something myself.i read of some guys wrapping the bottom of the intake with heat resistant tape, because there is a lot of heat soak from the engine.

It looks really good, but now ur drawing hot air from inside instead of cold air directly from outside

I had my air box and intake tubes wrapped with Thermotec yesterday. I notice the air box feels cooler but the temp gauge still run the same between 90 and 100C. Car performance has no noticable difference.

here are a couple pics, the set up doesn't look too good, just try to keep the radiant heat away from the air box. there is no change in performance or engine temp.

you guys should just get the clk55 amg air box and put green filters or you could do the renntech air box, but that is way more costly. The dealer in baltimore charges $284 for the clk55 amg airbox and cover, and if you have a dealer account with them it cost $224. I heard it 5-10 hp gains

It looks really cool but you have lost the ram air effect and now introduced hot air into the intake . You're better off using the green filters or k&n filters. Just changing the filters will give you more response and slightly louder intake nosie which sound cool. If the air mass sensor senses a higher air temp you will lose performance. All motors run better on cool crisp air. I give you A+ for effort.

Im confused for what u are saying "Just changing the filters will give you more response and slightly louder intake nosie which sound cool." What filter??? and I didnt use any filter except for the filter that you've seen in the picture. I took the stock filter out...Anyway one more time please

Too much hot air in that engine bay. 2 things.
1. They should be extended all the way to the front grille where the cold air enters.
2. Its metal tube. Conducts heat. Should of been plastic.

My guess would be you lost power.

in your factory airbox there's 2 air filters. He's saying you should have just changed those filters from the factory ones to the k&n brand or the greens filters for better air flow. no one really makes a cold air intake for the clk's, you have to get it custom, and they're really not cold air bc all your setup is doing is sucking in the hot air from your engine bay, and our cars tend to be hotter than hondas and others

you'll love it, make sure you get an ecu tune, i recommend speed tuning usa stage 2 to make up for the loss of low end torque because of the quad setup. my ecu just started kicking in 3 days ago and man its a monster. im doing the amg air box, and underdrive pulleys on tuesday. wot else have yu done to your car
