oh ok. the shop that did my exhaust said deleting the resonator usually causes the check enging light to be on, and it wont pass emissions, but he said the sound would be real loud. i'm perfectly fine with my sound. ill call the store where i got my install done from to find out the part number for the magnaflow muffler and magnaflow tips.

That system sucks hot air whether the car is moving or not. At 60 MPH air is being heated as it passes through the radiator. The lower engine cover ensures the hot air is moving straight back to the filters - and that radiator is exchanging a lot more heat at 60 MPH that it is at idle. Hot air is less dense, and the Bosch Motronic system has an intake air thermosensor that makes adjustments for hot air. So much so that aftermarket products are available specifically to fool the intake air thermosensor into believing the air is colder than it really is. Not only is the air less dense, there may be less of it. Have you measured the filter surface area and compared it to the OEM design? If the filters came from ebay, the filtering material may not be as good as some others.

Honestly? "I think" you're wasting your efforts. The stock filters are fine.

Assuming 100% volumetric efficiency (which you’ll never see), at 6000 RPM a CLK55 can ingest 581 CFM. At the same VE and the same RPM a CLK320 would ingest 339 CFM. The dual filters for a 2004 CLK320 are the exact same part number as those for a 2004 CLK55. If the air filtering system on a CLK320 is a bottleneck, the CLK55 should fall right on it’s face in the upper rev range.

If the 55 doesn't have a problem, how can it be an issue with the 320?

Definately. I would also can the open element filters and run a tube to where the cooler air enters.

tkracing,

ok here is the way I set up right now...as you can see in the pix. there are two element filters connect to the polish tubes but I dont know is it right to do this or not ...I took out the two stock filters in the air box already (I mean no filter in the air box). So basically you just see the two element filters outside. What do u think with this set up??? Am I gona lose any power or damage to the motor??? Should I just go back to the stock set up?? Any suggestion???

thanks,

Andy

Just go back to stock, you're wasting your time. MB intakes are generally well designed.

Removing the resonator does not cause the check engine light to be on, will not cause you to fail emissions and does not make a big sound difference. The sound difference was minimal. The shop was probably referring to the cats.

Check this intake out.

Picked up 8RWHP and 12 RWTQ. It's not on a CLK but the same basic idea applies.

I would say go for it. But either way you wont hear much of a difference. Just a bit deeper.

Andy,

Yes I would go back to stock. You are better off getting some upgraded filters.

I'd rather spend the money and get the Renntech Carbon fiber airbox. That setup does look nice though.

go on autoanything.com, i got mines for 100 total with express shipping, you need 2 filters. the intake snaps off when you flip the box over theres 4 screws on each side, use a torx 20 screw drive($4 at autozone) take out the old filters and drop in the green ones

[QUOTE=omar26;2749978]oh ok. the shop that did my exhaust said deleting the resonator usually causes the check enging light to be on, ....

The first mod I did to my car was to remove the resonator. I've had mine off for a year now and no check engine lights....
