Upgrade ECU of CLK 200?
Hi All,
My dealer is offering a free ECU mapping of my 2006 CLK 200 that will increase HP from 163 to 184.
What are the pros and cons?
Should i go for it?
What would you do?
Thanks
P

Hi ghettobird,
I don't understand your question....
If you are implying that the dealer is manipulative in any way, i think that they are as all are making money. Its a business... I don't know any business is not making any money.
They are distributors of MB cars in Cyprus. They have been dealing with used MB cars for over 15 years, and since Cyprus Joined the EU in 2004, they are also bringing new cars from MB Germany.

well everyone knows the dealership rips you off. aside from that, most official MB dealerships will NOT offer ECU upgrades, especially for FREE. ECU tunes usually take off the limiter, and increase the HP/TQ which MB set to a certain point for a reason. There sounds like something fishy going on with your situation. I'd stay clear.

Ok... Lets get past the FREE issue. I can explain how i got them to offer it if you want...
Say i was paying for it, are there any cons (negative) i should be aware of?
Thanks

I am in negotiations with them to get it done for Free (i might have to pay some amount after all
)
Under these new circumstances, the questions i have are:
1. Will the ECU remapping alone be enough to bring the 163 BHP to 184?
2. Will there be more fuel consumption when driving "normaly"?
3. Will there be a noticeable difference (worth paying for)?
Thanks

From what i understand of it, you're fuel efficiency will probally be similar to what you're getting now. I'm sure if it goes down 1-2MPG, you can deal with it. I think it is worth it for your car, as opposed to a naturally aspirated car (CLK200 have superchargers right?). You'll feel the power if you're the type of person that likes taking off at the stop light, or like accelerating fast on the highway. Other than that, you're drive will not change too much.

i have 2007 clk 200 it's 184hp. but dealer can not bring 21hp just remapping the ecu. he must change the superchargers pulley and than must remap the ecu.otherwise you will get just6-8 hp.

Now i am totally confused.... I can't get a straight answer from anywhere if a simple ECU re-mapping can bring it up to 184BHP.. Others say yes, and other say now...!!
I think i am just going to leave it alone...
Thanks for all your help
