Painting help!

I was just curious I was side-swiped lightly when i was parked by some ******* and lost some paint above my right rear wheels... it looks kind of minor but it bothers me... so I was wondering what is the procedure to just paint it back in a little. Also my car is silver ...is there a special code for the silver? I will post a picture of it in a few.

OUCH!! Sorry to see something like that. There are so many people just too involved with themselves and don't have a single clue about other people and other things around them. I wouldn't be surprised if that person was on their cellphone.

That damage looks like more than it needs a paint job, might need a little bit of body work too.

Well that's good. I would get touch up paint from the dealer.

Sorry I'm still a bit of a newbie... so I just drive my car to a MB dealer and request to buy "touch up paint" for the car?

Yes go to the parts dept. and give them your year and model of the car and the color. I'm guessing it'll cost you about $20 for a small bottlle. If you know anyone who's handy with an airbrush I would ask them to help you with your issue.

For now, just remove the blue paint using a paint cleaner and touch it up. See how it looks and decide if want to paint the whole panel.

I use Meguiars products to maintain my car. I would clean it up using Deep Crystal #1 and use ScratchX to smooth out the surface.

The paint code is 744 (Brilliant Silver). You can buy the touch up paint from the dealership.

looks unlikely that polish can get that off. And touching up will not be perfect. think you might have to respray the panel.
colour code can be found on inner side of door. well...at least for the MBs in singapore.

The paint cleaner, ScratchX and touch-up will only improve the appearance.

MB repainted this same panel last year for my 2004 CLK and it costed me $900. They did do an excellent and thorough job. To blend in the color, they removed the roof rack, the passenger door handle, etc. The paint was, to my eyes, perfect.

Paint

Your are going to have this professionally painted. The fender edge needs to sanded, reprimed, base coated + cleared. Using enamel based fix stick will not provide you good results and will most likely chip off and sooner or later rust will take over. On silver paint (or any metallic) paint the flakes need to be atomized just perfect or paint will look bad. You CANNOT accomplish this with repair pen. I would recommend good body shop for the repair.
