Esp & Bas
Has anyone encountered problem with the ESP & BAS while driving? I have taken to the shop twice and stored them, however they kept showing as malfunctioning. Anyone has a clue?
Another problem is the windshield wiper, it squeeks like hell. Anyone has a solution to correct it?

I can tell you that both my brother and sister have a 2002 C240 and they received the ESP/BAS/ABS warning. This is a known problem with many if not all MB models. The service department ended up replacing the ESP control unit as per a Star Bulletin. The problem has been resolved. As for your CLK it's probably the same problem and keep in mind my dad's 2000 E320 also had this same problem. Basically, it's bad units/sensors that need replacing.
As for your wiper blades, this has been discussed in the 2003 E-class forum. I believe it is also a known problem and the blades need to be replaced/reangled correctly. You might want to check the E-class forum for more info.

I had the esp/bas problem and brought it in to the dealer. The dealer replaced the wire harness. The work order mentioned a "wire harness recall." I do not, however, know of an official recall program notice being sent on the wire harness either by Mercedes-Benz or by NHTSA. So far, after the repair, no problem with BAS/ESP codes. Hopes this helps.

This is directly off the work oreder:
"ESP/BAS/ABS" lights/indicators are on all the time.
Replace ESP control unit
electrical cap
clamp
cable connection
adhesive tape
Repair to ESP wire harness PIN contacts as per star bulletin
42.45/23--02-3753--1.
As for the wiper blades, talk to your dealer, it's an easy fix.
