Lightbulb Heating the car

when i start the car in the morning every day do I have to wait like 5 or 10 mintues to heat the car or it is ok to drive right away.Because one of my friends said that MB`s have a special system that let the car heat up while driving Is that true ????

The heater in the w209 CLK is terrible. Another example of overengineering. All I want a heater to do is come out the footwells, instead it tries to come out the eyeball vents, even when I have them closed with the thumbwheel. Automatic is no better. For this I get a never-ending squel because it doesn't close off all the air flow, just enough for a whistle.

One of the wonders of my 1999 Corvette is I purposefully did not order "climate control", it should be named climate dis-control. It had three wheels: 1) Temp, 2) Air vent and 3) Fan speed. You could control the compressor if was humid separately.

Better yet was my 1986 BME 325. You could open or close the defogger vent, eyeball vent or heater vent independantly with three separate slide levers.

My 1975 450 SL even was better. It had separate heat levers.

This stupid w209 has a mind of its own, the w208's heater was better.

I fully agree it takes a long time to warm. I must agree BMW sure does know how to make a heater warm faster.

i think momba is talking about warming up the engine, right? of course warm up engine will warm up the heater as well, warm up engine seems to be a must practice for most car lovers, main reason for that is to let the fluids of the car reach their optimal temperatures before start driving so the engine will be happier and live longer... those(car lovers also)who don't warm up engine but will drive their cars slow and smooth for first couple to five min claim to have the result of warming up engine, and yes MB or some other cars do have a heater that warm up the fluids after you start your engine, this will shorten or eliminate the warm up time, i think this is useful in colder area (like Germany), i will warm up my car until the needle move to the normal range on temp gauge when the car is parked outside the garage in a cold day, other time i will just warm it for couple min and drive it smoothly until normal temp is reached, hope this can help
