no doubt the 335 will win.
it's lighter has a better gearbox, same hp, but the torque is huge along the entire powerband.
i have a clk500 with a few things done. i can run a 13.7 @ 103 in the 1/4
and a 335i usually will put 2-3 cars on me.

actually, its funny because i just raced one tonight on my way home it was a blue 335i coupe. we were at a stop light and he reved his engine...then i just took care of him and i beat it by about 3 car lengths....

I had a CLK55 before the 335i and there's no doubt in my mind that the AMG felt faster, but yea I don't know about the CLK500. Same HP, more TQ on the CLK500 and 7 speeds .vs. 6 on the 335.
If the 335 is stick shift you can always hope that the driver sucks at shifting

you had a clk55 amg and traded it in for a 335i coupe?? lol..are you okay dude?? i think you lost your mind( no offense ) even my CLK500 would beat a 335i ..i am 100% sure now that i have raced one..the question is..was it a automatic 335i that i raced or a 335i stick? because if it was an auto, then maybe a stick can keep up or maybe actually even win if they can drive a stick correctlyy because my clk is auto..

I don't know if many people know this but the first 3-4 months the 335i coupe came out, they actually came without these oil cooler's. My cousin 335i has oil coolers in front of his front wheels and on the bottom of his front bumper and some of these 335i coupe's first produced don't. Well anyway my point is that they lined up the cars and raced from 0-120 twice and my cousin's 335i coupe would put 3-4 car lengths on the 335i coupe without the oil cooler's. My cousin's friend went nuts when he saw what a difference it made and he actually went to the dealer to complain about it lol, I don't know what ever happened. We had a video on youtube but we took it out.

the clk500 would win, 335i is a v6, and the clk has way more torque and its a v8, and couple extra hp. but i will beat both of them in my SL550

335i - 300 hp,V6,300lbs of torque, 3.5 liter engine
CLK500 - 302hp V8, 339 lbs of torque, 5.0 liter engine
so where is the hp in the 3 series more? and the torque more? mate, the CLK is higher in numbers in all aspects. it does not make a difference for me i will beat both of these vehicles.

335i is a 3.0 liter inline-6 twin-turbo. 300/300 rating is a market scheme to sell more E46 M3 for the last push in sales. The actual power and torque falls well over 330 each.
lastly I'm fairly positive that the 335i will not lose to the 4000+ lb SL550. The SL550 is at best the same or few tenth slower to 1/4 miles reaching the same speed around 104-105. stock vs stock.
