Ask the dealership to take a look at it. The alarm module is some sort of thing on the passenger side, in the engine compartment I was told. Mine rusted out and it has it's own battery which died. So, the alarm made its wailing sound randomly, like when driving, but it sounded sick because it wasn't working properly. They replaced the thing which I think only cost $70 for the part, plus <1hr labor.

Thanks for the replies, I called the dealers today, they said that it would cost £76 for a new siren for the alarm if that’s what’s wrong so going to get it checked out, will let you know if that works. There is not much we can do about the Scottish weather just sit back and enjoy the warm rain. lol

I called the dealers today only to find out that nobody has the siren from Hamilton to Ayr they are on backorder a problem with the suppliers. I have to wait a few weeks and call back to find out if they have got any in stock. Had any luck with getting your own alarm to work??

Can that be right..? Powered from a special battery? I find that hard to believe, and there is nothing in my OM about additional batteries to maintain.

btw, I have never heard my own alarm sound, and I had assumed that it didn't have one. I had better look into this!

Special battery makes sense... if it didn't have a separate battery, all a thief would have to do is disconnect the main battery and tow the car.

It definitely has an alarm. Though I never heard mine until it malfunctioned.

at the present moment my alarm is still not working, however it is not going off for no reason now which i am very glad about.

-the way i test is too use the key from inside the key fob to open the door or something like that, just the lights flash no alarm, will post back tomorrow after another test.

p.s thanks oorjim u saved me trouble of phoning lol.

If you want I can let you know when the siren is back in stock at the dealers. Have been thinking about buying one of the sirens you get form the accessory shops to see if that would work, but I don’t know if that would do any harm to the electrics in the car.

No problem will drop you a note. I checked the alarm by opening the window locked the car waited about 60 seconds and opened the door, all I got was the lights flahing but no sound. I was going to buy one of the aftermarket sirens to see if that would work with the alarm system, but don't know if this would do anything to the electrics in the car.

Got a new siren but not from Mercedes UK I got it from Mercedes Canada. I called the delership in Kitchener Ontario today and they had 2 in stock so I bought one, my family that stay in the next town over there are posting it over. Mercedes UK told me today that it could take up to 6 months for the order to come over from Germany as they have put a stop on the order as there is some kind of problem.

Hi Kenny just to let you know I got the siren delivered today got it fitted and its working great. When you arm and disarm it bleeps I think they call that the Netherlands setting well that’s working as well. It was worth sending to Canada for it. If you want the name and address of the dealership just let me know.

Jim.

Hi oorjim

Can you confirm that your siren is powered from the car's battery, and not from a dedicated alarm battery?

I did question a parts guy at my local M-B dealership about this, and he seemed a bit clueless. I should have found a tech at the service desk, I know....

Hi Moondust, yes it is powered by the car battery a three pin plug. I think there is a back-up battery inside the siren so if anybody cuts the wire the siren will still sound.

Jim.

On the UK CLK it's behind the front passenger wheel.
