Thinking of joining the club!
I currently have a 2001 c240 and am thinking of moving to the clk320 2005 or clk350 2006. Can some of you give me opinions on the car, gas mileage, drive, good things, bad things and anything else you can think of. If any of you also had a C class, let me know your comparisons too.

I am also considering strongly a convertible.

2008 CLK 350, 2005 Chrysler Crossfire Roadster
If you drive them both, you will quickly realize that the Click is more than a 2-door C-Class like some people think. It's far more refined and luxurious IMO. I have the 2008 model and consistenly aver near 20 MPG in the city and 30 MPG during highway driving. If you can afford it, get the 3.5L over the 3.2L. I can't think of much negative to say about either car. The CLK just feels better to me. Go grab the wheel.
Will you have occupants traveling to the rear seats? Opening the door to let a seat forward has always been a pain in the a$$! The power seats are cool, but really slow. If your've decided on the drop top, I guess your mind is made up.
Happy shopping!

In terms of size, the CLK is pretty much an E class, not a C class, so it's much more substantial. I like that.
I have the convertible, and couldn't be happier. It's the only reason I got the car, otherwise it would have been a 4 door sedan. With the top up or down it's beautiful, and I get lots of good comments.
I believe that the convertible weighs more and has more body flex than the coupe, so it's not as good a handler, and it can vibrate more depending on tires. But again, if you decide you want a convertible you have choices. Me personally, if I was buying a non-convertible, it wouldn't be a CLK, since I want a more useful rear seat (the Toyota Solara is very nice too - seriously).

Hi I have a 320 CLK and its getting 25 mpg city and 36 mpg on the highway, it all depends on how heavy your right foot is. I had the E280 before and it was a lot heavier on gas than the CLK. I think if you try one you will be impressed they are a lot more than a sports coupe.

2014 GL450
I have the 350 convertible and enjoy that option very much; it makes a long slog through traffic easier if the top is down. Heated and cooled seats make it usable for more of the year.
I had always assumed that the CLK was similar to the C but drove a new C300 recently for a couple of days and was surprised by how much nicer the CLK feels in comparison.
I see high gas mileage figures on the board (even from V8 owners) but I get consistently 19.7 mpg in mixed city and highway miles. If I go on a freeway trip then I can see 23-24 mpg but never better than that: I guess I have a lead foot.
The CLK 320 is not underpowered but it is nice to have the extra push from the 350 engine and the 7-speed transmission.

I am still thinking about it, not so much debating if the CLK is for me but rather when I could do it. My oldest daughter just started college. My little one just got her restricted driver license as well. So I am debating if I should give my little one my car and just buy me the CLK or should I trade the C in and eventually buy my little one another used car. So I have some thinking to do.
But overall, I think I am sold on the CLK. Gonna go drive a 350 this weekend to get the feel for it. Think that will be my choice.

I (my wife, I should say) have a CLK 320. I have a Lexus IS 350 with sport suspension. My car is by far faster and handles better. With that said, my favorite of the two is still the CLK. Just something about the way it drives. I love it.

So I will see how the clk350 compares to the IS250 (hopefully this weekend will be some test driving).

We also have a 2008 IS250. I love the Lexus vs. my current C240. & year age difference may be a part of it, given new technoloy , etc... Great well thought out features on the Lexus. My wife is the one that drives it too.
