Clicking noise?

After I start the car I hear a clicking noise. Sounds like it comes from the area around the key. After driving for a while, it goes away. Any thoughts?

Thanks

if it is inside your cabin, and the clicking begins at startup for about 30secs and then goes away...its certain that it is your step motor which controls your climate control flaps....
A clicking noise is the result of a broken swing arm that is attached to your step motor...it clicks everytime it does a 360* rotation...

The remedy for this would to pull your dash, find the correct step motor that has failed and DIY the rotating lever.

How difficult of a job is this?

How much do you think the dealer would charge?

its not that hard if you do it yourself...get yourself a torx driver set and get out the T-20 and go to town under the drivers dash...its about a 2hr job if you're mechanically inclined. The shop will charge you more than 1200 bucks. The part is 150 bucks, the labour is 900 or so.

I'm not mechanically inclined so I would have to bring it to the shop. $1200 sounds pretty steep. Is there any risk of further damage if I dont get it fixed right away? Will this affect the performance of the heat/AC?

The price tag is accurate. I had the same problem, and the shop quoted me the same. I said to heck with paying that much... its only 30 seconds of clicking, and everything still works.

Fortunately, the clicking went away after a while, and everything still works perfectly!

Good luck to you, bro!

I have this same issue and have read it is to do with the Stepper motor. Do you have a DIY guide of this being done. Would be really helpful and appreciated.
