Surround Lights ?? !!

Funny story here, and maybe some help for the next clk owner. I just picked up an 07' clk350 cab two days ago. On the first night of having it I parked to show it off to a friend. As he is looking he tells me I have a fog light out. I have the lights on auto and the car is in park. I get out an look and sure enough one fog light is on (whoaaaa!!!?&^) I have an electrical problem already! I put the fog lights on and the other one comes on. I shut them off and the one side stays on.
Next morning I check once again and the light was off. Thinking, ok just some glitch.
That night I look again and its back on! "Dammit, whats wrong with this car!"
So yesterday I called the dealer and spoke with the service guy. Then I find out from him as he says "you just don't know the car's features..." that there is this surround mode.

What are your thoughts on this feature?

My thoughts..

1: ok so it give slightly more light when making a 90deg turn. Why would you still want it working when the car is in park?

2: Lets say I had "2" beers (wink wink) and was driving home at night. I make a turn onto a street where there is some fuzz coming out of. He could potentially see my car with one fog light on and come get me for having a light out. Oh ya oceffir.. thats a feature.

.... I turned this "feature" off.

Park your car straight and turn the steering wheel to the center.

Please read through the owner manual.

Thanks mikare.. I already figured out how it works. I was asking what others thoughts are on this feature.

when i first bought my car a few years ago I had the same experience...
no one at MB told me about it, I read through the manual and figured it out...it's pretty cool in theory but i feel like it's almost useless in hawaii.

I think it is useful in Europe, maybe.
