Stuck steering collumn on '04 CLK

Tonight on when I left work the steering column did not return to it's position when I started my 2004 CLK 320. The adjustment lever won't do anything either. You cannot hear the motor running when you try it either. So my steering wheel is stuck all the way up. Does anyone have an idea how to fix this?

Maybe a fuse..? Have you tried cancelling the auto-adjust feature? Presumably the car is otherwise driveable.

Well it definitely isn't a fuse. I got into my car yesterday and pulled down on the control for the steering wheel to make sure I couldn't hear the motor running and the wheel lowered! I got it right where I wanted it and then it stopped moving again. I've now turned off the easy access.
