Would you buy this car?

Hi Everyone,

I drove this W209 2005 CLK500 (link to vehicle on dealer's site), fell in love, and (unfortunately) started asking questions.

The car was a leased vehicle, and the dealer that the car was returned to went under. The bank that took possession didn't grab the owner's manual/service log for the car. Our local MB dealer was able to give me the VMI file's information and all was good, but there is something spooky about not having evidence of oil changes, etc.

Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated.

- Justin

Unfortunately, the CarFax doesn't have any dealer activity besides a recent "No Recalls Open" note by MB. Good idea, though! Thanks!

Carfax is over rated. 9 years ago, i got an accident on my M3. Carfax shown nothing about it. Carfax only get info from new car dealership but not the little shop...etc.

Very true. The front bumper on my Z3 was removed in a not so gentle manner, yet I have a clean CarFax.

The oil changed info is not good evidence to based on some cars. Mine cars (Slk 230, Clk 430, CL 55 and CLK 500 cabriolet) for example, have never been to the dealer for an oil changes because I do it all myself at every 5K miles with synthetic oil only.

^what he said. I would just go get it checked by a mechanic and have them do an inspection before committing to the car.
