PROBLEMS: headlights, keyless go

In addition to the wiper noise, loud wind noise problem, I'm getting some problems with keyless go, and the one side headlights not shutting off problem...yes that's a big headache because it happens like 5 percent of the time and you dont know when so that means i always have to wait a few seconds after i locked the car to make sure they go off EVERYTIME!!! Basically what happens is one side of the car lights (headlights and backlights) would stay on after they supposedly shut off automatically, and the quickway to fix is just to turn it on and then off. I was chatting with my friend the other day who owns a c class, he apparantly said he has the same problem from time the time, and he went to generalize that mb seems to have had this problem for some time..... Has anyone experienced this problem? Can it be fixed? or is it just some inherit wiring problem with the car..?

The other problem is the keyless go. First off, it has never been totally reliable, meaning that occasionally I have to rattle the door handle like 2 or 3 times to open the door which makes me feel really foolish as if i'm try to carjack my own car!!!! So I really strongly DO NOT recommend this to anyone.... Right now, it just completely stops working. Both buttons on the door handle appear to be stuck so I cant push that button behind the handle anymore...however, the engin-startup is still working fine thank god. Is this a common problem with keyless go? like buttons getting stuck?

Another problem I found is that COMMAND does not provide navigation for destination and location not being on the same cd which really means that the nav itself is designed to be fundamentally flawed...which means that this problem should have been around for a while, i'm dissapointed that mb went ahead with this design........ oh well, i should be focusing on the problems that can be fixed!

Ordered a keyless go car and expecting delivery soon, hope it's not going to be a problem. A friend has an sl500 with keyless for 4 months now and no problems...there is a thread on the new sl forum about keyless go problems.

I got the car around august, so it should be the one of the first few batches... do they actually differ among batches? i mean there can't be betas for cars...can there?

About the wind noise, it's obviously coming from the door cuz the windows rasie a little as you close the door. I think it's just design problem...it happens sometimes...depends on how well you close your door or maybe how well the windows close i guess.... it has leaked water once when i was doing car wash, nothing major, just some droplets of water on the seat, which definitely means the door is not closed properly, or rather the windows are not rasied properly (which is done automatically, nothing you can do).

ok... maybe it sounded more horrible than it is... it isn't that bad. I was using the high pressured spray, so it's not like the water slipped in or anything. But again, it wasn't a super high pressure water spray and i wasn't intentionally 'aiming' at the door.... I was suprised to see the water droplets because I wash my other cars the same way and this never happens. And i'm 100% sure the that window was closed all the way! Anyway, I have driven in the rain many times, rest assured that rain doesn't get through hehe. The wind noise is really the major issue here.....together with the noisy wipers.....especially those windy rainy days......oh my god.... it really gets into my nerves......

Generally the first 3 to 6 mos of production will have the most anomalies which should start getting corrected as production moves along. The window seals were reported early on in production as were the motor mounts and noisy wipers...hopefully MBZ is pro-actively correcting the problems on the line and not just sitting back and letting the dealers handle them. As I reported in another thread the Oct build 500 I drove still had the motor mount issue! I'll let you know in two weeks when I go check out the 209 coming in for me (Jan build).

Drive a 2001 CLK430 until this Friday. I have a deposit on a 500 due in two weeks. I've owned three 208 430's and look foward to my new baby...I just hope that our January build's have most of the teething problems already corrected at the factory during assembly.

The window and or door seals have been discussed in this forum before and can be corrected, also see the tech section of this website for the 209 tech bullitens.

I'm hoping to take delivery by 2/17 how about you?

Silver/Charc K3,CD,Keyless,Parktronic. Would have gladly had K4 vs park, but that's the way the car is coming.
