W209 Stereo replacement/upgrade questions
#26
I'm thinking about just swapping the deck and nothing else. I'm used to doing car stereo's but mostly on older or unsophisticated cars without extra amps or anything else. Would I need to do any special wiring for an install on an 05 clk 500? I'm not looking to keep steering wheel controls either. Thanks for the advice in advance.

If you want to just replace the HU, then you would have to run front and rear speaker wires from HU and splice into the stock speaker wires in the right and left floor area. There is wireway under the carpet on both sides just inside the door sills. You would lose the bass coming from the subwoofer and would have to replace the speakers (2 ohm).
Adding amps does complicate the install some, but the results will be worth the effort. Also, if you ever plan on running a sub, you're going to have to install an amp (the stock Bose amp inputs are fiber) anyway. So I would recommend installing the amp in the first place if you are going to change the HU.

Pics of HU installed and Component woofers
Here's a couple of pics of the HU installed...
A couple of pics of the ID CTX65cs component woofers mounted in the original BOSE woofer mounting....
Everything sounds great. So much better than the original BOSE system. Thanks to all of the folks on this forum that answered my many questions....

Hey guys. am upgrading my stock head unit (Audio 10) to a Pioneer AVH-x7750BT for my 2002 W209 CLK. its a not a Bose sound system. They also offered a CAN-BUS unit to keep my steering controls
I am a newbie at doing audio modifications Thoughts on this set up? will everyth work fine I.e. my subwoofer and steering controls.
I know there are many posts regarding this but they are mostly for cars with Bose sound system or HK sound system.

I don't see why not. However I am only aware of two steeringwheel CANBUS interfaces one of which is no longer produced. I am not familiar with the one you have but it would be good have another option available if it works fine.
It all depends on how it is installed and who does it. The head unit will definitely work perfectly if installed correctly. As long as you understand how the CANBUS adapter works and can program it then it should work fine also. Again if you simply install the 4 channels from the stock wiring then the sub should work. As I said in the other thread you posted the sub is bridged off the two channels which is why they re 5 ohms and not the usual 4.
No idea if it helps but all of my audio related posts are for my non-bose CLK55 and previously non-bose C32 which is almost exactly the same. I only mention it as most members here are in the US and have bose. Not many non-bose cars it would seem.
