Sl65 Wheels on 2003 CLK500 AMG

Hi folks,

I just purchased a silver 2003 CLK500 AMG with only 17,000kms on it. I have a friend who is selling his 19'' SL65 wheels with Yokohoma AVS sports:
Fronts 19x8.5, 245/35 ZR19
Rears 19x9.5, 275/30 ZR19

The recommended tire size with 19s on this CLK is apparently:
Fronts: 225/35-19
Rears: 255/30-19

So, I think that the wheels will fit but will the tires?

Any experienced help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Bolts more than likely will be needed and possibly spacers. Tires that are recommended for our cars are 235/35 19 and 265/30 19 unless you're going for a stretched look. Good luck with your search.

Thank you,

Why will the wheels need spacers and bolts? I understand that the tires could cause some problems but I could always pick up a new set - I'm not very fond of the AVS Sports anyway!

Those wheel "offset" are too big for the Clk.

i'm running 225/35/19 f 265/30/19 r and have no fitment issues.

the rear could maybe use a spacer if you'd like.

how are you saying that wheel offset is too big for the CLK if the offset was never posted. if anything its like nothing less than 30 and that wouldnt be a problem.

I spoke to my long term friend at MB today and asked him about the wheels. Hi response was that these wheels would not fit as they are too big. He also consulted with the service department for me. Is this just the dealership following MB rules?

Post the offsets. That has a lot to do with if the wheel will fit as well. 19's fit our cars, half of the owners here have 19 x 8.5 and 9.5.

you can make anything fit if you want to. making it look good is another story. coilovers, camber arms, a heat gun and a lot of time will make things worth it. and something like i just said wont be needed for the SL65 wheels you want to fit. like i said i'm running the almost exact setup and have no problems whatsoever with fitment. if i wasnt ordering new wheels sometime soon i would even throw some spacers on my setup. i'll see if i have pictures to post but i doubt it and i wont have time to detailed pics as i'll be busy til next week. good luck though and believe me it will fit especially if you are stock height as my car is dropped some.

I was guessing since it a factory wheel. The S and Sl wheel factory offset are in the 38-43 ET.

What is the offset range for the CLK?

I saw some staggered 18" SL wheels that I want to run.

Not entirely true. S class YES, SL NO.

The S class can be as high as ET48 on some of the standard wheels, but the SL's are always max ET33, meaning they wont fould the suspension or anything, just have to watch the outer arch with some of the wider SL wheels.
