Engine Options on '05 CLK500
I really need help from people that have experience swapping engines/installing crate engines in CLK's. If you don't have something constructive (criticizing why im doing it) please move on to a different thread.
That said, my engine is shot in my '05 clk500. I'm looking into getting a new engine from MB. Do i have any options such as swapping in a clk550 engine, rebuilding my current engine for more performance, or can i only put in what i had?
I'm having my MB dealer do the work, and am looking for any options that are close to the price of doing a straight new engine swap. I know their not big block chevy's that i can do a million different things different internally, but if i can just have mine sent out to a machine shop and have an extra 100 or so hp for the same price as buing a new engine, then im all about that.
At the least, im going to do the entire intake/exhaust on a new motor.
BTW i believe the damage is mainly the pistons/connecting rods, so the stock block would have to be bored out a bit.
Supercharger?
Thanks,
Mike

Im not really sure about pricing but Renntech does come out with nice SuperCharged engines for Mercedes cars. Maybe you can check there. I think Brabus also does engines as well.

I think, you should also ask this question in "Mercedes Tech" forum. There are a lot of folks there that are techs themselves. Good luck with your work, if $ is not an issue then consult with renntech as well.

im pretty sure Renntech, Kleemann, Brabus all do engines..with Renntech being the best in my opinion. They do add on kits as well, but i think you can also buy the whole engine. Keep in mind tho if you do get one of those engines you will need to change a lot of stuff in the car so support the power of the upgraded engine.

Thanks for all the responses. Let me add that the work has to be done at my MB dealer, so I can't take it to a Kleeman dealer to let them do the swap.
I saw something about a kleeman clk50k s8 that had their s/c and tuning for over 500hp. I need to check that my block was not damaged at all so i could just get a stock rotating assembly if necessary but do a blower from kleeman.
At $6k it's alot cheaper than a new engine.
Has anyone seen a kit for a slightly bored out block on a clk500?
I don't know how to link this to the tech section, could someone help me out with that?
