noob coilover question

hey guys. i was wondering about some suspension set up some of our guys have.

I mean i just did a quick google search. and there are a couple brands out there now. I mean. there are D2 racing for 1k and K Sport for 1k. both offer just about the same. KW v1 is 1.6k and v2 for 2k. so whats the difference? are these cheaper set ups worth it? or would it be better to either spend more cash on the v2 OR get a good spring and shock/strut set up?

Thanks
B Heng.

if you go for coil-overs, go with either KW or bilstein.i have H&R springs and Koni adjustable shocks which work very good as well.

You also have to consider how low you want to go.

i dont know how low i want to drop it. probably only in about a an inch or so. im from the sf area so i dont want to scrape up driveways or down hills much.

i guess i should be leaning towards springs and shocks. cuz i dont know how to set damper setting and such.

also i dont want such a harsh ride because some of the sf roads are rough and have a couple of pot holes here and there.

yo astropat, how does the ride on coils feel? too hard compared to springs?

It's more stiff, but it isn't uncomfortable. Mine is dropped almost 2 in.

I bought my coilovers used. The only bad part of it was that coilovers are usually adjustable with these collars they have on them, so you can adjust the ride height pretty easily. So I can't raise it if I wanted to without switching them out completely.

I can see how driving around in the bay may get sketchy. IMO, I think buying a new set of coilovers is worth it (or a used set that works properly). The ability to adjust your ride height is priceless. You can make the ride height at exactly what you want it to be. When you switch you wheels or whatever, if you don't like it, you can go higher.

I don't think the ride on coilovers is hard at all. My buddy has his 350Z all fixed on coilovers too. I think my H&Rs on the lowest setting still feel 100x more comfortable than his. My ride doesn't feel all floaty like it did stock. You feel like your car is more grounded and can maneuver better. Of course you'll watch out for potholes and drive carefully anyway. It's not that bad.

v2 is better.. than the v1...

if u not gonna adjust the damper setting much i recon v1 is... plus its cheaper...
suspension shop told me that the v1 is already enough for me unless i wanna take the car to track he would recommended me the v2
