I posted back in 2010, honestly I think it's happened to me maybe 3-4 times since then, and each time, shutting off the car is usually the solution for me. Or it might take half a day.

2005 CLK 320 Cabriolet
I have a 2005 CLK 320 Cab with 32,000 miles on it. The radio recently stopped getting any FM signal. I took it in to my mechanic and he just called and said that they "replaced the fuse, the radio worked for a few seconds, and the fuse blew again" - sounds like I may have a similar issue with my car as above. They are still investigating, but does anyone have any other suggestions? Could it be there is just a bad connection? If so, would it be caused by something I put in the trunk? - Or is this something that is directly behind the radio. The mechanic said he is going to need to spend time taking out the radio. I just can't imagine there being a loose connection behind the radio as I haven't done anything that would cause this? However, I do occasionally put things in the trunk. Sorry for my ignorance.

@explorerfl - where is this connector located? Did you fix it yourself, or did the mechanic? If you did it, would you share any insights on how I might do this? I'm a girl, but I'm very handy with tools and such. Thanks!

I am assuming that it's fuse #8 on the rear SAM (trunk fuse panel) that is blowing? If so, then you have a bad ATA alarm siren. You'll need to replace it (or at least disconnect it until you do replace it) or the fuse will keep blowing. The ATA siren is located under the car behind the front right wheel. You will need to remove the fender shroud to access it. Note that fuse #8 feeds the ATA siren and the antenna amp. When the antenna amp is not powered, you'll get poor radio reception and very poor range on the RCL (remote central locking) via the SmartKey fob.

Thank you Rodney - the repair shop JUST called me and stated that the alarm box located in behind the front right wheel was full of water! How this happened is strange as I have never driven the car in the rain.. UGH. Maybe when I have the car detailed? anyway, you are so right! thank you. They want $500 to repair. He said he needed to get the part from MB and it would take 1 1/2 - 2 hours to fix after receiving. does that cost sound reasonable to you?? Thanks so much!

I am not surprised that the ATA siren is water damaged. It's location behind the wheel, even cover by the fender shroud, is just not the best location. Plus the water collector below the windshield drains there. As for the cost, it's a $270. I could do it in my garage in aa bout 2 hours. So $500 is not unreasonable, but not really a bargain.

i HAVE A 07CLK Cab w/Nav. that has recently sounded like the drivers side speaker was bad....Today I started to get a weak signal from all speakers when the radio or CD changer was in use. I stopped for a half hour came back to the car and everything was normal.....Does this have anything to do with the Antennia Amp?.....as usual thanks for you help.

No, that is some sort of fault in the head unit or amp. Mine has done this occasionally (4 or 5 times in the last few years). As in your case, it went away after shutting the car off. But a week or so ago, it did this and even shutting the car off did not fix it. I was playing around with the radio, and using the knob, quickly turned the volume up and down a few times and it stopped. I am guessing it's a "bug" in the electronics that control the volume or volume signal to the amp.
