I think the concern is the windows freezing up to the rubber seal between the windows. As you know the windows need to move a little for the doors to open. If the windows freeze stock, the doors will not be able to open.

I also live in the Chicago area, when its snowing I will take my ML500 out (W164), but I have blizzaks on just in case.

Well, I had a 320 w203 and a 500 w209 but if I had to compare a 320 w203 to a 320 w209 I,d say they are very similar.
And with good tyres and some comon sence caution you'll be fine.

Mine were frozen closed this morning and doors opened and closed fine. I came to the forum 'cuz I was more worried about the window motors. I think, going forward, I will put some silicone on the rubber and give the windows a little push as suggested, just to be safe....

ahhhh, if only common sense were more common! My wife says her 4Matic handles poorly in snow. I tell her it's not some magical device that neutralizes snow....you gotta take it easy!
