I just swapped out my halogens headlights to xenon headlights and from what I've read from board members, I'm supposed to go to the dealer and let them use the star diagnostic system to "set the xenons to present." I made friends with one of the employees at mb collision center and he offered to try to do it himself with the star diagnostic system. he hooked it up but wasn't sure what to do from there. any ideas?

 

Try something along the lines of

1 EIS- Electronic ignition switch
2 Control Unit adaptations
3 Read coding and change if necassary
4 All Codes
5 Xenon Headlamp - Change to present.

 

I was right next to him when he was going through it. where would I go to get there?

 

It is actually located under FR-SAM, Control unit adaptations.

Did you buy the xenons new or used? What did they have to reprogram? What about the self leveling? I'd like to do this to my CLK.

 

from what i remember about oem bi-xenon retrofits from the w203, the self-leveling will not work if ur car did not come from the factory with the bi-xenons. there's a whole assembly dedicated for the leveling of the headlights, that cars not originally equipped with bi-xenons do not have.

 

Halos??? There is halos for the W209?

 

damn it you caught that! the top right screw by the grill was missing but it was more of the angle of the shot. got the screw now anyway

I did the same thing to mine! Looks so much better!!!

 

It wasn't cheap. OEM paint, HID kit with slim ballast, tab repair, halos + labor and shipping both ways... it was a pretty penny.

Anyone want to buy my OEM ballasts?
