AMG and non-AMG cars have the same tail lights post face-lift. It's the pre-facelift that has different ones. The turn signal on my lights is darker because I smoked them.

What did you use to smoke them with?
Is it a simple process?

Thanks!

I used tint film. It's not too hard, simple film would work. Only thing is that you have to cut it to fit. There are some pre-cut offered on ebay for $50 for 2 sets.

Do I have to open the light housing somehow and apply the film or do I apply the film direct on the outside of the lights?

Could you maybe link me to the film on ebay?

Thank you for all your help!

Nope no need to open them, it goes on the outside. Here is the link

Dyno, could you maybe write a "how to" guide for changing the lights?
All I can there is one screw/bolt that I can unscrew, is this correct?

Could you write a short "how to" maybe? Just keep it simple if you would like.
I have googled for a guide but I cant find anything.

Thank you for your help!

I actually took the lining out of the trunk to have easier access to the lights. You don't have to but it helps. There are three torx bolts on each light. One on top and two on the bottom. The one on top might be a little tricky because of the trunk spring. I circled 2 of the bolts in the pic. Then all that's left is bending back some of the metal so you could fit the new socket.

I will try changing the lights tomorrow.

You seem to know a lot about Mercedes W209, so I will definitely ask you for more advice if it's ok:-)

Dyno, did you only bend the metal on the side or on the upper corner too?
The two lower bolts seem to fit fine but the upper corner I seem to have little trouble fitting the housing.

You could see what part I bent in the pic above. It's the section between the top Bolt and the one towards the outside of the car.

I got it now, thanks:-)
They now fit. I just have to paint the bented metal with some paint so it wont (knock on wood) rust:-)
I will get back later with the result.

Thanks for the help!

I have another question concerning exhaust system for the car.

Right now I have stock exhaust system with one exhaust pipe and it really doesn't make any noise at all, I know its just a V6 but still:-)

Do any of you have any experience with magnaflow systems?
Will this exhaust make my car sound deeper and throttier?
http://cgi.ebay.de/Magnaflow-Sportau...item4397554729

Im looking for an exhaust system with two pipes like the CLK 55 AMG 2004 model.

Do you know any other better exhaust systems?

Thank you!

Magnaflow is good. That's who I will be going with. Adding the exhaust will improve the sound but you might want to also look into a resonator/2nd cats delete. With the muffler you linked, you might have to cut the opening on your bumper to make them fit. I'm not sure of the size. Other companys you can go with are Eisenmann, Brabus, and Carlsson.

Andy (M-benz) had a Magnaflow when he had his 320.

The turn signal of the Elegance is clear and the Avantgarde is a bit smoked. Like the SL tails

You are the pro so I'm not debating specifics as far as amg & non amg cars... but im sure that there are two different types of 06+ taillights. at first i ordered the taillights and when i received them i was dissatisfied with them but i didn't kno why. Then one day i parked directly in front of a 550 with the new tails installed). on my way back to my car i realized that his lights were SLIGHTLY darker then mine. I was sure he tinted them lightly so i payed no attention to it then. But that just made me pay closer attention to 06+ taillights. So i went to the dealer and noticed that a 350 on the floor had lighter taillights then the 550 next to it. Moral of the story is i purchased the "sport lights" I think... and side by side in my hand there was a big difference... the newer 1 had a factory tint.

Oh & BTW, in case anyone wants 2 be reassured, installing these lights took 10 minutes.. The piece that is blocking the new taillight from fitting in flush is real thin. i bent it back with my bare hand. The only thing u have to pay attention to are the holes that the bolts go into. U have to make sure they will still line up

Yea, like I said in my post above, The Elegance package has a clear turn signal and the Avantgarde package the signal is slightly smoked. I list the part #'s in this thread if you need them https://mbworld.org/forums/clk-class...ts-part-s.html
