Question on switching to AMG bumper

I am waiting for delivery of an 03-05 AMG OEM rear bumper. It comes with the frame and the moldings. I know some people have done this switch already and I wanted to know if I needed to purchase any other components that I can't use off my non AMG bumper. Thanks in advance for you help

I'm also curious about this as i will be ordering a full amg kit from these guys this summer http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/07-09...Q5fAccessories.

It seems like they give the mesh, the fog light mesh, and the foglights for a total $675. I'm negotiating with them regarding the whole kit together.

I thinking about getting that one also but was scared of fitment issues. I ended up purchasing a used OEM

Nope, regular AMG... Though I wouldn't mind a 63!

From what i've heard, the fitment is almost flawless on that one. When i do it, i will post back. I also want to know though if we need to get any other components for it asides from the mesh and the foglight inserts.

The plastic reinforcement subframe must be salvaged from your existing bumper to mount the AMG bumper

So basically plug and play? I just want to make sure when I take it to install they don't come with some B***sh*t that I need additional components.

You may need to modify one or two bolt clips to line up but nothing major, the hardest part of the rear fitment is the bumper subframe. The front is a little harder.

Switching my 04 front bumper for an 04 AMG bumper. My question is besides the fogs and grilles, are there any other components that I can not use off my old bumper and have to purchase? Thanks

See this post with lots of the details you are looking for.

http://www.mwstewart.co.uk/articles/w209amgbumpers/

I will also be changing my 03 Elegance bumpers to 03 AMG ones. Already purchased them off someone that upgraded to Barabus and they came with the fog lights, some impact-absorbing foam pads and metal mesh. Hopefully anything else like the plastic reinforcement frame can be salvaged from existing bumpers. I'm hoping to get that done in maybe a month time as I need the bumpers also repainted from black to silver and I'm slowly working on getting all that work done for free (well as a trade for some IT work). I will post back about the experience when its done.

updated the link

Will do, did they had to feather in the paint job to the fenders etc to 'bland' in the color? Or did they just paint the bumper itself? I was told that this should be done in order to match the rest of the color that can be faded in from the sun even when using original paint.

I'm pretty sure they just painted the bumper. It matches perfect, you can't tell the difference

Also looking at yur cars pic, it looks like you had the roof painted or just the black foil put on? I was thinking about getting the roof wrapped with black gloss foil. My car is also silver. Want it to look like this post https://mbworld.org/forums/3961564-post830.html

Yea, It's painted along with the roof spoiler. Some people choose to vinyl wrap in case they get bored of the look. I doubt that I will ever want to go back to the "plain" look so I decided on paint

So Wes, for the rear you didn't have to buy anything else right? For the front, can you reuse the same wheel liner extension? You know that part that connects to the bottom of the bumper?
